My view, over the past few decades of watching the tides, is that this is all
an evolutionary process to cull the herd of debris. Policies have been enacted
to discourage active procreation, and spin has been induced to confound the
soft headed sorts to meander into non productive actions which will remove
their genes from the future.

Women now are working past their abilities to serve their primary reproductive
functions. They are old, but not wise in how to assist in caring for coming
generations of humans. Men are encouraged to do things counter to millions of
years of breeding, and the foods we consume are destroying our DNA and ability
to impregnate anyway.

Very much like the decline on Mercedes Benz cars. They no longer are able to
survive to the point of classic, let alone vintage or antique.

Vlad is flipping the bird to the west with his gas emanations. He just flipped
the switch on a massive gas pipeline to China a few days ago. Their demand,
his supply, will result in increased prices for NG in NATO nations. Even the
folks in AK are trying to ship CNG to our Sino buddies, as the oil fields
become less productive. Massive gas fields left untapped should feed some tax
revenues to the state so it can remain moderately active.

I know Marshall was insistent on the design efforts of the engineers at
Sindelfingen being the best possible, but why is bypassing necessary for
the diesel engine but not for the gasoline engine?

Is it because the diesel engine needs a continuous flow of coolant
through the parts of the engine associated with heat to the heater core?

Is it because diesel engines do not make much heat unless they are under
load and experience wet stacking and thus the bypassing is to keep the
most heat in the engine when it is not needed elsewhere?

The different monovalve and extra parts and expense in manufacturing say
there must be a reason, but I'm not sure what the reason might be.

Yes, that part is pretty straightforward to design and execute.

Plumbing the coolant flow is where it gets fun. I need a new branch off
the coolant circuit on the other side of the existing monovalve for the
bypass circuit. Right now that branching occurs in the existing monovalve
body. This means finding a "Y" or "T" fitting of the right diameter and
splicing that in, and routing the new branch off that fitting to the newly
added monovalve / bypass circuit.

Here's the whole thread with all the FB nonsense.  It looks
really nice, I don't know why he wouldn't swap in a used tranny

2019-12-21 Thread Floyd Thursby via Mercedes
If I understand correctly a regular 722.6 will  bolt up to the 4matic
stuff.  If that was closer I would be all over it, pull the tranny from
the wrecked E300 and swap it out, would be a really nice car.  I looked
into a new pump for the transmission, the part costs more than a used
tranny and you have to pull it all anyway to R the pump, so not much
point in doing that.

Re: [MBZ] 124 monovalve variations

2019-12-21 Thread Meade Dillon via Mercedes
Yes, that part is pretty straightforward to design and execute.

Plumbing the coolant flow is where it gets fun. I need a new branch off
the coolant circuit on the other side of the existing monovalve for the
bypass circuit. Right now that branching occurs in the existing monovalve
body. This means finding a "Y" or "T" fitting of the right diameter and
splicing that in, and routing the new branch off that fitting to the newly
added monovalve / bypass circuit.

No, it would not be a bit of work; all you have to do is add an ice-cube
relay. With +12 to the armature, the normally-closed contact will provide
power with the signal to the coil off and the normally-open contact will
provide power with the signal to the coil on. You just have to figure out
which on-off valve to connect to which contact, i.e., when energized, does
the two-way monovalve open the heater circuit or the bypass circuit?

[MBZ] 124 monovalve variations

2019-12-21 Thread Meade Dillon via Mercedes
I compared the '94 gasser monovalve to the '95 E300 monovalve, and the
major difference is that the E300 version has a bypass around the heater
core, so the valve is two-way and either feeds coolant to the heater core
or bypasses the heater core. Gasser has no bypass, so the valve is simple
on-off.

One way to re-engineer would be replace the $450 valve (two-way) with two
on-off valves, one on the heater core circuit and one on the bypass
circuit, controlled so that either one or the other is open. That would be
a bit of work, but less expensive than a new monovalve.
