One jet bridge?! That's a huge airport compared to what was in Pullman,
Washington, when I flew in and out of there in the late '60s.

There was one small building, perhaps 2000 ft^2, the asphalt parking lot
and plane parking area, and the runway.

When it was time for the plane to leave, it taxied down the runway to the
appropriate end, turned around, and waited. The person who ran the
airport came out with a microphone on a long cord, looked around,
and told the pilot it was OK to take off.

See this is the problem. Hear might kill it but they are telling everyone to
stay at home. If you are sitting under the AC it keeps it alive. I heard
something the other day they are wanting people to turn off AC and wear masks
at home. Give me a break.

Re: [MBZ] Plane broke down

2020-07-13 Thread Dan Penoff via Mercedes
I actually saw a woman get off a puddle jumper and kiss the ground once…

Riding a twin turboprop commuter from Denver to Albuquerque via Santa Fe in
April during the afternoon. Loads and loads of spring storms popping up on the
eastern slopes as we made our way south that day. As a private pilot who flew
most of the time during Midwest summers, I had encountered more than my share
of such fun, but I will say it was a wild ride even for me. Every time we hit a
downdraft this woman would scream, which didn’t help things.

When we landed in Santa Fe, which was a “stop props and drop” stop, she
literally pushed to the front of the cabin right behind flight attendant and
nearly pushed her down the stairs, after which she was on her knees wailing
about how she would never, ever fly again.

It was quite the performance, with the ramp crew and others standing around
looking at her as she carried on.

She was ticketed through to Albuquerque, I would add. The flight attendant told
us so after we got back in the air…

Outside air temps in Phoenix, Arizona today are 117 F. At the same time,
Arizona is having a record spike in new covid infection rate...
So guess the "Heat will kill it" fantasy falls into the "Unicons make
great pets" bin.

Have to go polish the fleet of flying pigs, so we can do a formation
flyover at the funeral home for covid dead..

Re: [MBZ] Plane broke down

2020-07-13 Thread Kaleb Striplin via Mercedes
I might not make it out alive. The girl up front starts pushing a bunch of
buttons and the plane starts making a strange noise then alarms with red lights
start going off. Not sure what all that was about. Still waiting on bags to be
loaded. This is the sort of thing you deal with when flying small planes to
small airports.

Well they just let us off the plane. No word yet on if we are going to a new
plane. Since I’m going to a middle of nowhere airport I bet chances are high
this was the last flight up there today.

The air conditioner is almost that simple! At least 20 or so
years ago it was ram air makes it compressed, air-to-air
intercooler to cooled down compressed air, let air expand and it's
cold, let it into the cabin.

Re: [MBZ] Plane broke down

2020-07-13 Thread Kaleb Striplin via Mercedes
One you get to altitude you just use bleed air from the engines to keep the
cabin from freezing to death. If we would have just taken off we would have
been in the air by now and it would not have mattered. We have already been
sitting in the 100 degree Texas heat for over an hour.

sitting is the drivers door handle is peeling. Drop in a used engine and
it’s on the road. Was going to daily so I used quality parts. Long list

2020-07-13 Thread MG via Mercedes
We have a warm water one at the club. Warm being at least 120deg.
It is a small (for a restaurant unit) 1 rack unit and runs on 110
but it's not for home use being 36x36x72 inch (wxdxh).
Like Scott says it is noisy and fast at about 90 sec per cycle
but dishes do need to be pre rinsed and scrubbed of any stuck on
food as this is more or less just a sanitizer even though it is
called a dishwasher.

It constantly freezes up with big chunks of ice and gets jammed.

I recently got one for our rental and it’s just like a regular home owner one.
That is our only one might be a different story with 80.

I’m guessing that the service contracts are structured and priced quite
differently for rental properties.

A neighbor of mine has 80 (yes, 80) rental properties ranging from individual
homes to some small multiunit apartment buildings that he inherited from his
father. His brother runs the day to day operations, but my neighbor is involved
on a regular basis as needed, which seems to occur quite frequently.

Anyway, he was telling me the other day that they have a relationship with the
local Lowe’s store where Lowe’s will sell them appliances in a lot that are
being closed out or discontinued. For example, he told me when he was “up
there” (the properties are in North Carolina somewhere) last week that they
bought several refrigerators and stoves this way for pennies on the dollar.
They’ll store them until needed, but have them on hand when something happens
so they can swap them out quickly and not have to buy single lots or at a price
point that’s higher.

The question is, do the tenants break stuff more often than the average
home warranty buyer, and is the difference enough to sway the odds in your
favor?

In the long run, on average, those are a waste of money. You think the
companies offering them aren't making a profit?

Be sure you peruse the fine print to understand what they don't cover,
and what the deductibles are.

Sure, in individial cases they might pay off. People win the lottery
too.

A better plan is to set some money aside so that when you eventually
have to repair or replace an appliance, you have the funds.

VPN in general? No. This particular application of VPN? YES!

Maybe. What I was reading showed I could have the VPN from my
router so all the traffic from my LAN could be through the VPN.
That is one device with VPN, but any number of devices on the
LAN. But it is also only one VPN link opened.

That could easily be worked around if a tunnel, or VPN was setup
between my house and your house. Then my internet traffic could
be set to go into your house, then out through the
privacy/anonymous VPN service we are sharing the cost of. My
outbound traffic would show up for you as both download (my house
to your house) and upload (your house to internet). The reverse
for my downloads - they would all pass through both your download
and upload.

Anybody with Gbi fiber who wants to share?
