In MA you're allowed to move your plate to a vehicle you just bought, I think you have 7 days to get to the DMV and move the plate before "big trouble" ensues. Every pickup truck we've bought we just moved the plate from the trade in to the new one, worked it out with the DMV in a day or three. -Curt On Saturday, February 27, 2021, 8:43:47 PM EST, Rick Knoble via Mercedes wrote: >What I usually do is take a plate off one of my existing vehicles and >registration that won’t need to be driven in my absence and use that. Just an FYI MA does not sell temporary plates and, at least in theory, does not recognize temporary plates form other states. As a result, the zinc phosphates and zinc triphenylphosphates that provide start up lubrication have been removed from the oil, they are both a problem for disposal/environment and expensive, and if you don't use oil containing them, you will have tappet and cam wear greatly increased. This is a huge problem in the hot rod community, as they use mostly Chevy 350 engines (and some Fords) with flat tappets, and the change in the oils has done a lot of damage. That's why I use Mobil 1 Truck and Turbo in all the diesels, and probably should in the TE (I think the cam may be gone in that car anyway). Formulated for flat tappets, since Cummins still uses them among other things. Soot holding capacity is also an issue, One oil change won't wreck your engine, but I'd no make a practice of using anything not correctly rated very long. ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Looks nice but i wonder about that transmission, it's a 722.9 so it might be gorked. The SAM is a known problem with these, it's in an area where water gets to it and fries it. Shame... https://charlotte.craigslist.org/cto/d/charlotte-2006-project-vehicle-needs/7283214404.html The biggest issue is that the vehicle's SAM (Signal Acquisitions Module) had some water intrusion and will need to be replaced. Other issues include; a small oil leak, transmission needs to be serviced. -- --FT ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Re: [MBZ] Oil for OM602
I mostly used M1 15w-50 in that car because it is not as cold here so 15 worked fine for cold starts & since most of the 150k miles were road/commuting miles so i used the 50. . A few times when i could find it i used the M1 turbo truck 5w-40. Re: [MBZ] Oil for OM602
One thing to remember is that the 60x engines all have flat tappets (actually the bucket, but same issue), and that modern automotive systems DO NOT have flat tappets, they are almost universally roller tappets. ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Re: [MBZ] W210 - Unlocking steering column without key/fob in ignition
> Try to solder it back. Nothing to lose by trying Exactly. Or, get a handier friend to try. Or the local fix-my-computer place... The key fob (1 of 2) on the X5 stopped working, and just like MB it's a real pain and expensive to get another one. Nothing to lose, I cut it open. The internal rechargeable battery had broken loose from the PCB. I bought a replacement battery (VL2020 coin cell type) and soldered it in place, then glued the fob back together with 3M weatherstrip cement. Yes, you can definitely tell it's been dicked with, but it works again, has been working for over four years now. This is the daily-use fob. Cost a couple of dollars for the battery. -- Jim ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
