Re: [MBZ] Bucket loader?
You can dig with a loader/bucket but it's not ideal and you can wrack the loader with asymmetric forces. I'd consider a box blade for scraping top dirt into piles and then use the loader to move the piles to the low spots. Finally pack and level, again with a box blade plus wheel-rolling. I use my loader a LOT for everything but mowing. Does your machine already have the hydraulics for a loader? I became a fan of hydraulic top/tilt control for a box blade but that may not be important to you. -Original Message- From: Mercedes On Behalf Of Buggered Benzmail via Mercedes Sent: Sunday, April 11, 2021 11:31 AM To: Mercedes Discussion List Cc: Buggered Benzmail Subject: Re: [MBZ] Bucket loader? Re: [MBZ] why can't I unload this POS I have sitting in my salvage yard? 2017 Mercedes GTSAMG - $94, 900 (Charlotte)
I considered a Spark EV lemon. As near as I could tell, nothing wrong with it, buyer didn't like it, bitched until GM bought it back, branded the title, and auctioned it off with warranty. Chevy dealer in Wisconsin bought it from GM and listed it for a 'no haggle' price, IIRC about $7k. It looked to be a decent deal, the main attraction was that I didn't have to drive to California to get it. But the title, and the fact it was black with black vinyl, made it easy to say no. Mitch. My top 3 are New Holland, Kubota and Kioti. The last because I think you get a lot more tractor for the money in the off brand. Mahindra surprises me as being, generally, the most expensive. Deere is mid pack for price which surprised me too. Re: [MBZ] Bucket loader?
No tuners for JD tractors, I’m guessing, since they guard their systems like Ft. Knox. Funny John Deere story: When I was working at the JD training center in Waterloo, I asked the guy I worked with (one of their corporate training managers) what they did in countries where there were no turtles or rabbits, the icons they use on their throttle bezels. He said they research what animals are similar in the local culture and make stickers to go over the rabbit and turtle. -D > On Apr 11, 2021, at 6:47 PM, Curt Raymond via Mercedes > wrote: > > Up around camp is definitely farm country but where I live not so much. Re: [MBZ] Bucket loader?
Nope, it does have a DPF though. All tractors over 30 go have to have one. JD has a 3 series that they have a 28 or 29hp engine in to get under that rule so it doesn’t have a DPF and is several thousand cheaper than the 32hp. In fact it’s the exact same engine so I would imagine it’s just software de tuned. The dealer around here has all of their packages and prices on their website. In fact all the brands around here do, and run tv commercials advertising their package prices. Probably because it is more tractor country around here than up your way. [MBZ] Gotta love MB -- $900E500
I called MB roadside assistance to organize a time for a truck to come collect the $900E500 to deal with the SBC pressure reservoir problem that I think is throwing it into limp mode. Guy was very nice, says a tow truck would be here in 90min. Woman calls me from the tow company about 5min later, we organize the pickup to take to the stealer. I presume this will cost me nothing. I was just going to say sometime the next coupla days would be fine, no rush, but it works out great. I wrote up a page detailing the codes the car is throwing (only a few, 2 for the airmatic, and of course the trans and SBC, and one is some weird thing I am not sure what it means, synchronization of DTC memory -- might be related to the limp mode issue) and told them only to deal with the SBC issue which I think is causing the limp mode, as one trans code is for the brake control solenoid valve on the conductor plate/TCM. The limp mode is intermittent, and the trans works fine when it works. So anyway the tow truck will be here in an hour or so, I'll meet it up at the road to load the car up. I washed it a little while ago, other than being dirty carpets inside, it is a really nice car, 154kmi. Body and paint are very good, a coupla minor scratches and one little dent on lower driver door that I just noticed today, someone probably kicked the door closed. Once it is fixed, and I attend to an Airmatic valve issue, I should get it detailed and flip it fast before something else kakks. I could probably get $4k or more for it judging by what I am seeing these things listed for. Of course you cheap b@st@rds will want to chisel on me... -- --FT ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
Re: [MBZ] Bucket loader?
Nice. The trailer is a flatbed to pull it on?Does yours use DEF? The annoying thing about shopping for tractors is that all the ads say "Call for price" so you need to contact each brand to get a quote so you can compare them. I think I'm going to submit for bids where I ask for a price on a 35-45hp machine, industrial tires, loader and backhoe, no cab. Submit your best price, no communication other than the bid will be accepted. It'd at least give me an idea what the prices are like. -Curt On Sunday, April 11, 2021, 6:20:14 PM EDT, Kaleb Striplin via Mercedes wrote: It was about $32k with tractor, loader, box blade, brush hog, and trailer on one of those 0% deals Sent from my iPhone > On Apr 11, 2021, at 5:13 PM, Curt Raymond wrote: > > > How much did you pay for your Deere? How much did you pay for your Deere? I've given up my idea of buying a construction backhoe and have returned to farm tractor. There are lots more out there and I'll probably end up buying brand new or nearly so. Thinking 35-45hp so about the same size as yours. Re: [MBZ] why can't I unload this POS I have sitting in my salvage yard? 2017 Mercedes GTSAMG - $94, 900 (Charlotte)
If it is a Lemon Buyback, I believe, according to the "Lemon Law", the title has to be branded that this is a Lemon Car, forever. I also recall some discussions when that law was passed, the car had to be removed from being sold and scrapped by the Mfg.. [better verify that point]. Possible case here.. Mfg sold it as scrap to scrap yard... Scrap yard now trys to market it as a "whole car" with branded lemon title... Consult legal counsel, I'm not one... but, it smells bad. Yeah the dealer said that if I had the original key they could clone it. But I didn't. All I had was a copy that didn't have a chip (I had that made after several emergency "I locked my keys in the car" incidents). The locksmith was able to get the car computer programmed to accept their aftermarket key. Set me back $180 which the boy who lost the key is paying to me on his next payday. Re: [MBZ] Bucket loader?
A back blade would be the thing for skimming off soil, especially one with ripper teeth. An x700 is a big lawn tractor but it's still pretty small, you won't be able to move much at a time. I've got a Cub Cadet 1650 with a real front end loader that is supposed to be able to lift 200#, not a whole lot of weight and the rear end will be pretty light at that point. I've got 25# wheel weights and it definitely needs more. I think Jamie is right, you can rent a mini-excavator for about $300/day, it'll do the job in a couple hours at the most. -Curt On Sunday, April 11, 2021, 1:10:48 PM EDT, Jaime Kopchinski via Mercedes wrote: Gravel and rocks are really heavy... It can pick up a load of gravel, but you can feel its pushing its limits. A false move and it'll roll over. When moving around big rocks, I can't fill the bucket... too many and it won't lift. It does work well to spread gravel, but can't dig and skim off top soil. You need a back hoe for that I think. You're probably better off renting a machine. Re: [MBZ] Bucket loader?
My advice is to find your local equipment rental yard, and rent a decent sized tractor with a front bucket and a Gannon blade on the back. Here, a day's rent will run about $250, or, if you rent on Friday and return at 7AM Monday, they charge you for "One Day Rental" you pick up and return with a full fuel tank, and there is an up charge for more than 8 hrs on the hobbs meter use. The local yard here will also rent a trailer to carry the tractor to and from your place. [You will need a truck capable of towing the tractor / trailer or they won't rent to you for safety reasons]. For a one time charge, you get use of a late model well equipped tractor that will do the job, and all in, it equates to much less than buying a front loader or hiring someone with one. The Gannon box blade is excellent for shaving dirt, most are also equipped with extendable ripper teeth to loosen the dirt if needed, and you scrape and drag a load, lift the Gannon blade to dump and drag another one.. soon you have a long line of piles which are perfect to be scooped up with the front loader bucket and taken to the other chosen location.. where you then use the Gannon box blade to spread and smooth. Easy work no digging with shovels and wheelbarrows.. My 0.02 worth. Just had to get a new key for the Focus. Ford dealer wouldn't touch it, said they can't do anything with cars over 10 years old. Big strike against ever buying a Ford again, even though I've been pretty happy with the Focus overall. Local locksmith came to the car with a mobile programming device and programmed a new key on the spot. Fortunately I still had a non-chip copy of the key so they could cut the teeth from that.
