I work with a guy who has a regular “route” that he follows with local pawn

fairly well on places like eBay, so once in a while, he scores big and flips

Hi Jim, yes I have done that on a w123, the way you are describing.
The angle of removal and installation on the w124 does not lend it self to
doing the replacement. Pelican parts has a illustrated step by step for the
replacement. Short of removing the complete rear suspension it would be
advisable to use a spring compressor. Also less than a hour needed to replace
a spring using a spring compressor. There seems to be guite a few "knock off"
spring
Compressors on the market. Are any of them decent or are they junk? Ron

I'm not sure about W124, but I replaced the rear springs in a W123 using
nothing more than a floor jack, jack stands and the weight of the car.

Front springs is an entirely different proposition.

[MBZ] My expensive HF air powered vacuum oil extractor crapped the bed?

2023-11-05 Thread Kaleb Striplin via Mercedes
Yesterday while using it to such up oil and such from the valley of the 642, it
sorted if seemed like it was intermittent not sucking. I did not think a whole
lot about not it until it stopped sucking all together. I figured maybe
something got sucked up and stuck in the hose so I disconnected it. No sucking
directly out of the hole where the hose goes. I thought this was a pretty
simple concept but what could be wrong? It’s got a deal that screws on the
opposite of the air inlet that I assume generates the vacuum. Any ideas? I
noticed these things are now $200 but im sure I didn’t pay that much for it.

I had a kit I loaned out and it hasn’t returned. It was a clone of the Klann? I
think, round disk plates that fit in the coil and a long screw deal that goes
down the middle to engage the plate. Worked well on 126s and I think max might
have done a 124 with it. Don’t know if it was branded or not, but it worked
well. Avoid those external things from the auto parts store

[MBZ] Cooling System Fill/Drain Tool

2023-11-05 Thread dan penoff.com via Mercedes
Looking for recommendations for a cooling system fill/drain tool, one that uses
a vacuum to drain and refill the system. Don’t need Snap-On price/quality, just
something suitable for DIY that people have used and are happy with.

I’ve got several cars I need to do a cooling system flush on, so now is the
time.

Thanks!
