I went to check on the charging and while I was looking at it the display 
switched from SUL to charging. That was maybe 2hr. It was at 3% capacity so I 
guess it decided the battery was somewhat happy. It’s on a slow charge so I’ll 
see what it’s like in the morning. 

Maybe it will rejuvenate enough to get this thing started

They’re still harassing me about bringing my 2008 ML550 in for the brake 
booster recall check. Thing is, if they check it and find that it is affected 
(I’m pretty sure it’s not) they won’t let you drive the car off the lot. Or so 
I’ve been told.

Batteries without a load also go wonky in time, which is why they should
be charged at least once a month or be put on a desulfating battery

with deer smashed it.  Part number 21281067009792 (palladium silver.  My 
Mercedes dealer in Grand Rapids, Michigan gave a price of $284.00. Is there a 
better price out there?  

Update on the same car from electric steering lock and ignition replacement.   
Original quote was around $2800 and they said it could take up to 7 months to 
get the parts.   Kudos to my son, he called mercedes  rep and after 3 hours on 
hold and many conversations the rep said he would talk to the dealership.   
They called my son back the next day and said they found the parts in another 
hub and could get the repair completed the following week.   The total repair

[MBZ] Battery SUL

[Buggered Benzmail via Mercedes]

I pulled a battery out of this 06R500 that was pretty much dead, only ~3.5yo, 
good Diehard Platinum AGM unit. Put the charger on it and after a coupla 
minutes it said SUL. Code means it’s sulfonated and the charger will try for 
10hr to deal with it, however it does that. So I guess I’ll see in the morning 
what the status is. Fairly nice Schumacher charger which appears to have some 
degree of intelligence built in. 

I guess after a battery sits in a car with some dormant load on it the plates 
or cells or whatever go wonky. I need to learn more about that. Feel free to 
share wisdom.
