Re: [MBZ] Front calipers

None of the 140 calipers interchange.

There is a late model 124 E300 NA at the knackers. If those calipers
are there and in good condition, I may snag em.

Karl sez: You can go with 4 pot sl brakes and rotors. Might have to
grab the backing

plates or whatever. Google it and some peachparts.com stuff will come up,
or std.

They say you should swap the booster for the 4 pot version also, but mine
has the big calipers with the original booster and the pedal feel is fine,
if a bit hard.

[MBZ] Front calipers

2016-04-13 Thread rogerhga--- via Mercedes
Curly,
About 6-7 years ago I needed a front caliper for my 83 300D. The folks on the
"other MB List" said the brand I wanted wasn't good and rebuilt stuff purchased
via O'Reillys was junk, and I should replace both and not just one. So for
$44.00 I purchased and installed one anyway. It has been fine ever since. It
was also much cheaper at the time than other calipers at other stores or
online. For brakes, I'd prefer a rebuilt as opposed to the "knackers".
Just my .02.
Best Wishes,

Go to the MB of Atlanta site and look up your car, find the caliper, then do a
"where used" on it like I've shown before. That will give you a very good idea
of other models/years that use the same part.

The other 300D needs front end work. If I can swap out 98 or so
calipers for 87 calipers, that might buy a few more years (decade)
without having to buy new-rebuilt.
