Re: [MBZ] 1990 300D Prospect/Project? SCORE!!

2016-05-26 Thread Dan Penoff via Mercedes
Thanks!

I’ll probably just make a list ‘o’ stuff I need and post it somewhere, as there
have been a number of kind folks who have contacted me with offers of parts.

As I may have mentioned previously, I am buying this car to put together a
dependable daily driver for my oldest son, as he really misses his former 300E
and he needs the economy of a diesel compared to driving the S420.

I’m going to try and do this as cheaply as possible while doing my best to
maintain the integrity and have it be a decent car, not a beater.

I believe the speedo works but not the odometer, so  suspect it’s got a bad
gear or two.  That’s definitely going to be high on the list.

Right now I’m lining up fluids and filters.  It will get a good going over in
that respect then the Martha treatment. I plan on taking a few weeks to get it
sorted since it’s not in immediate need to enter the rotation.  After the
cosmetics get sorted I’ll take on the AC, as that is critical here.  From there

It’s not that expensive from the dealer. I buy most of my fluids from them
except engine and gear oil.

by Jaime friend Alvaro. It was a very vice blue on blue 95 e300. The timing was
bad but I should have made it work.
