A defective Nyloc nut came off a bolt in the wing structure and the bolt turned a two blade prop into a 1 1/3 blade prop. He shut it down and made a forced landing in some farmer's field. If you lose a prop blade in a fixed wing, the vibration will tear the engine off the front of the plane and the massive imbalance will prevent a graceful descent. Same end result as in the copter. And you can't hand fly anything in the middle of the night at altitude in bad weather.
