for that kind of money. Don't need a part number, the counterman knows

It depends on what you order. Some things are here the next day with Prime
two day shipping, others take longer than two days now. I'm guessing the
increased volume and sick drivers from Covid is the reason - it'll get back

I let my Prime subscription expire over a year ago. Was great at first
but by the end I was rarely getting the 2-day delivery, and I didn't use
the Prime Video or other benefits so I didn't see the point in paying
for it.

I rarely buy from Amazon these days, but when I do I either pay for
shipping or choose the "free" option that most items offer. That takes
about a week or so, but really isn't much slower than Prime was at the end.

That is interesting. The seller has three adds and 
only one is
shipped by Amazon. Amazon may only ship the item 
if you have

prime or pay for 2nd day.

I also see the Free return and wonder if Amazon is 
restocking
those items  and sending them out as new. That 
would account for
a lot of the comments of parts missing and torn or 
damaged boxes

that one sees in the reviews.

Depends. Mine didn’t have WiFi access, so I needed the bridge for it to work 
with the app.This is what I bought:

The app walked me through the installation process, which took all of about 5 
minutes, if that. The Chamberlain documentation said I had to use the G0303 
hub, but everything I found online pointed at this model (G0301) so I bought it.

I don’t really care about the remote access, but I do like the notifications 
that the door is being opened or closed.

Well.. guess I should comment, based on my recent experience of being hit
from rear, recording from dash view only.

Both my Attorney and my Doctors have put the dash cam video to good use. In
the case of the Attorney, in his discussions with the offending party's
insurance company regarding damages and medical costs.. Camera cost is much
more than covered in return on investment.

I think many here watched the dash cam video of me being struck, then
driven across on coming traffic into the block wall.. It makes a very
convincing argument that I was displaying good driving protocol and out of
the blue.. struck from behind.  The car is being totaled, as of yesterday.
The replacement vehicle will have front and rear cameras.. I think..

The camera mount I use clamps to the rear view mirror stem.. perfect
location and very solid.. even after hitting the wall.. the cam was still
in position, only slightly skewed.

Does it have a 1080i option? Double your record time with basically no loss in 
image quality.
Progressive video is such a scam, it doubles your data rate and gives a picture 
improvement that is basically undetectable. Most of the 1080p 60fps stuff on TV 
I consider unwatchable, it all looks like soap opera

I think that dash-cam has a battery, the "new and improved" version has a
capacitor and supposedly will have a longer life, especially in hot
climates.

(I've been leaving my AC vent thermometer in place to monitor performance,
at ~1100 today the car had been parked for about 3.5 hours, interior temp
was only about 85 deg F, which was actually very close to ambient.  White
car with all four windows cracked, sunroof popped up in back, and
reflective sun shade in windshield. I guess I don't need to worry too much
about adding some window tint now, will keep monitoring as the summer heat
increases.)

I'm thinking the 'seller' bought it on Amazon after you bought it from him on

appears that some of the bigger "ebay stores" also stock and sell with Amazon 
and as such when they say "free shipping", Amazon Prime does the shipping and

I am of the latter.

When I ordered a lot of books for classes, I used the wicked lady 
prime.  That was only after my vendor for Micro$haft books was sold 
to time warner.  THen I got a time warner acct and bought there, but 
kept having problems.  SO it ended up Wicked lady with prime was 
cheaper than the wholesale price.  When I stopped buying books, I 
dropped the wicked lady.


I maybe pay $15 a year for shipping from the wicked lady, so no 
prime.  When it was $30 or $45, maybe, but at a $100, NO WAY!

Correct. But I didn't want a car to be VOR, so having the ability to get the 
part at a competitive price the next day early was well worth it to me.

Again, I used to do the "combine my stuff to hit the minimum for free 
shipping", but that rarely got me the goods sooner than 2-3 days. With Prime 
nearly everything I get comes the next day or two days at the very most.

We have a large Amazon distribution center nearby (at which my oldest son 
works) which even has some things delivered the same day, and even on Sundays!

In your case, I could have gotten the same deal - but a

ago my choices were, in no particular order:

Local MB dealer, next day, over $100, 40 minute 1-way drive

AutohausAZ, Bosch, $50 + $15 next day (would probably not go out the same day 
the order was placed)

Any number of aftermarket suppliers, pretty much the same as the AutohausAZ deal

Amazon, Bosch, $40, no shipping charges, delivered the next morning


The Amazon deal was a slam dunk. Had I not missed the cutoff for the day, I 
could have paid an additional $5.00 and had it the same day.

This is what the $100/year gets you. It's not just dollars and cents.

I suspect since Prime was costing them so much on 2day shipping they added a 
deal where if you can wait for something you can get a $1 credit. The only 
thing I don't like is that they mix up what the credit is for, sometimes book, 
sometimes movies/tv/music, sometimes Amazon Pantry. I read a lot in the kindle 
app and its nice to get books for free.
In your case I guess you gain nothing, if you were one of those paying a bunch 
of money for TV (which I suspect you're not) you could save big...

I've not had any problems with the "bad" M1, it still holds up to 10,000 mile 
oil changes both in my departed '84 190D and the Jetta which only got one 
change of it before I switched to Car Quest 5w40 synthetic which was cheaper. 
In both cases the oil could have gone for longer changes, so its plenty good 
enough...

I think so. It's the "European" oil they put the stickers on the MB engines for.

I have been using 15W-50 in my older stuff, like Tommy's S420 that is 
approaching 300k, but everything else I have is at or below 100k, so it gets 
the 0W-40.

I have had my wife order stuff from Amazon and get it shipped free in 2 
days with Prime, no 10% sales tax.  Great deal.  I have noticed most of 
the FLAPs will do something similar, if you find it on their web site 
and buy it then go pick it up at the store, or have it shipped to the 
store, but then you have to pay the local tax.


Amazon is also quite good from a customer service perspective from what 
I have experienced.  for stuff you don't need right now it's a great deal.

Amazon pulls too much of this sort of sneaky stuff.   For example if 
they don't want to deal with your purchase from one of their dealers who 
turns out to be a ripoff artist, they send you to a bad connection in 
Panama to talk to someone who can't speak English intelligently and then 
hangs up on you.  I've bought nothing from Amazon for over a year and 
don't plan to in the future.

but I just think it's too much of a coincidence for these orders to be sitting 
in a warehouse for literally days after they were placed when similar orders I 
have placed in the past were dispatched within a day or two.  This is barely a 
week after I cancelled my Prime membership.  The order I placed on the 17th is 
still sitting.  That's five days since I placed it.

The joke is on them, as I'm in no hurry for any of the items, so they can sit 
out there as long as they like.  I'm thinking that if they wait until the last 
minute I may just cancel them to be a jerk.

Too weird.

I went online and found the items I had on order from Amazon for the same price 
elsewhere.  I cancelled my Amazon orders that had been sitting in the mystery 
queue for days and bought the items from other vendors.

There was a subscription order I had in the shipping queue for a water filter 
for my refrigerator that had been sitting there almost as long as the order 
from the 17th.

Less than five minutes after I cancelled both of the merchandise orders that 
were languishing, I got an email telling me the water filter had shipped!

That's just waayyy too much of a coincidence.

I think Amazon is punishing me, and I'm curious if anyone else has encountered 
similar behavior from them

I did a 30 day Prime trial starting in February, with the full expectation that 
I wouldn't follow through. I bought a boatload of stuff during the trial 
period, so much so that my UPS guy even remarked about it.

So the Prime membership lapsed last week.

I have placed two orders since then, both utilizing the free shipping that is 
offered for orders over $35. One order was placed on the 17th, the other today.

The order placed on the 17th has yet to ship, despite it being scheduled for 
delivery on Monday (by Amazon.)

In the past when I placed orders like this they always shipped within a day.

I'm wondering if they are sandbagging to try and entice me to re-up for Prime. 
Since I placed the first order I have received two promotional emails touting 
how I should sign up for Prime before the price goes up.

It just seems sort of timely that this is occurring, and I have never had 
service like this from Amazon before.  That's why I was curious as to if anyone 
else had a similar experience.

Any time in the past that I used their free shipping, which was almost every 
time I bought something, it was on its way to me within a day or two at the 
most.

From what I am seeing, things that are labeled Amazon Prime are often priced 
higher than other suppliers on Amazon who are charging for shipping.  While 
it's not cheaper than Prime, in the long run I don't see the advantage to 
Prime membership unless I'm buying things on a regular basis, especially 
things that are bulky or heavy.

Never used the streaming video service, although most of what I have heard 
about it was not positive.

From who? We use it a lot and its great. Sure it doesn't have everything but I 
don't want everything. If you recognize that in watching broadcast TV you're 
watching a limited subset of everything thats on then Prime is exactly the 
same. Besides which its cheap enough, even at the new price, that the cost is 
essentially inconsequential, cheaper than basic cable.

matter.  I rarely watch TV unless it's Family Guy on Adult Swim before I nod 
off, or possibly Rick and Morty on the same.

I have a prime account that I actually paid for, have ordered some stuff and 
more often than not what I have ordered was not prime anyway. Was just a 
regular seller with the normal free shipping, so I will not renew it. I checked 
out the steaming but it does not seem as good as Netflix.

gouging their suppliers and partners on prices to jack them up to cover 
the free shipping, or to cut the supplier prices for higher margines.

all those prices are marked up to cover shipping.  i'm not upset about it,
but i realize that when i buy something for 17 bucks, it can be had for 13
bucks someplace else and those extra 4 bucks are covering freight

amazon has a lot of IT power.  it's pretty easy for them to screw you a bit
and make you say gee, it was so better when i had prime
