Which reminds me, I have some URO tie rod assemblies, I can't remember if
they're for 201 or 123. I could get the part numbers if anybody wants such a
thing. I'd let them go for shipping, I can't in good conscience sell a URO part.

I had that same problem with rusty and ball joints. I think he sent me uro and
I broke a tool trying to press them back off after they got stuck trying to get
them on. This was on a 210. Toward the end he seemed to be shipping a lot of

Yeah your write. I think Jabba is half honest so that is why I got
stuff from him, though he is also just fronting some parts supplier so
who knows. But he is responsive and tries to make things right, so

Yup. One of the last things I got from Rusty before the Trent debacle were a
set of “Lemforder” motor mounts for the S500. When I went to install them a
few months later I discovered they were cheap chinee stuff in Lemforder boxes.

I just ordered that part and when all the way to the process of entering
credit card info and it worked fine for me. If you go to the main site
you have 3 catalogs to choose from, the direct link to the one you want
is importecautoparts.com. If that is the one you were in, must be
something on your end maybe. They also have a closeout or special
catalog. If you go there and put your vehicle in, you can see what
closeouts or specials they have for that car sort of like rock auto. I
saw some good deals in there.

I did get the little shipping estimator to work. Ground shipping was $0.00,
whatever that is, so they are cheaper there. The cheapest (paid) shipping was
$12.85.

Is Lemforder a quality replacement for the lower Ball joint.
AutoAZ wants $32.00 for Lemforder
Northlake wants 57.00 and doesn't indicate manufacturer.
Both prices include shipping charges.
Thanks,

there is a cheaper and effectie "pipe-like" tool (available on ebay) that you
use with a 12-20 ton press. A few folks have reported success using a standard C-clamp

without using spring compressor (although I have one); the shock and wood block (under

the other rubber (except upper control arm) will require a good spring compressor.

Re: [MBZ] Ball joint(s) 1985 300D

2016-05-24 Thread Meade Dillon via Mercedes
Michael,

There is a risk that the ball joint will completely fail, at which point
you rapidly transition from a driver into a passenger, and Bad Things
happen when that wheel comes off.

In your shoes, I would get that joint replaced ASAP. I had one get
questionable, I had squeaking going on that I could not diagnose, and then
one day the steering got a bit funny and "Ah HAH!" I knew that was a ball
joint, so I had the car towed to my Indie for repair.

Have the other joint evaluated, if the boot is compromised it must be
replaced. If the boot is intact, a good MB mechanic can check the joint
for play, and then advise you accordingly. If no play, really no need to
replace it unless you want to be proactive.

Is it ok to continue driving the vehicle until I have the part replaced?
I seen prices from $17.00 to $44.00. I plan on driving this vehicle for many

Any recommendation on a supplier and manufacturer would be appreciated.
