Amazing we have the greatest computer ever invented carefully placed
between our ears yet we "buy into" vehicles that try to outsmart that
computer.

The brain computer has built in hard limits that do not allow self
destruction without deliberate override the car electric devices
provide said override without advance warning... Perfect storm... yes?

I'm not sure if the car is physically strong enough to take the wheel from you, 
but I'm pretty sure the steering wheel is still mechanically connected to the 
front wheels.

Ugh.  I knew there was electric "power steering", but I hadn't
notice any where the mechanical link was gone...

I wonder how much longer before it will be unlawful to drive a car
that does NOT steer and brake via electronic nannies...

Some idiot.  Not only does it increase the cost to work on these, they’re 
inherently dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing, and you almost have 
to have the Star diagnostic computer to reset everything if you touch them.

It would seem that if that one was working properly, one could change the
SLA (starting, lighting, accessory) battery without causing the computer
to lose its mind -- which would be a good thing.

You have to have the special high dollar dealer tool to swap the battery or

[MBZ] Battery Crapped Out on W211

SWMBO went out to go to work this morning and when she climbed into the '05 
320, she said she saw the clock running backwards. Strange, she thought. So she 
tried to start it and nothing except for a message on the computer saying the 
battery is suspect.
I've never replaced the battery on this. Each time it has needed one, I have 
had it in for a service oddly enough.
So is there anything I have to mind in swapping out a battery? This will 
absolutely be the newest vehicle I've ever done this on so I can only imagine 
that will have to do something, or get something done to the computer after the 
new battery installed.
And, what are the chances that the Wii battery under the hood is still OK? I 
guess I can just take a reading on it.
