[MBZ] Bladeless electric fan
This looks pretty cool: http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/5ba62a00-b755-11de-9812-00144feab49a.html Adapted for auto use, could be used to replace the radiator cooling fan and the HVAC fan, probably save weight and increase reliability. Yes, perfect for those green-car type folks who want 60+ mpg but all the modern luxuries. I suspect the price will drop once the Chinese get their factories tooled up. I'd like to put one of these fans on my 66 MGB but I think I'll wait for those evil rich people to buy and try them - that'll eventually push the price down into the reasonable range! ;-) It'd be nice to get rid of the fan blade! Sure sounds like a venturi - and one of those air compressor powered vacuum pumps -- Not a bad mark-up for $5 or $10 of parts and plastic! Venturi effect is my first thought, too, but I'd bet the basic air mover is a bladed fan/pump of some type - and noisy.
