Should I have taken that to mean you don't have the parts? I still need

Things like a wood-grain ashtray that includes as much of the lighter assy.
as necessary to get it working so I can use cel phone - I just have wires.

The piece of wood trim that wraps around on the passenger side of dash.

An antenna mast - whatever it would take to simply replace the mast and not
worry about the motor.

A spare steel wheel - 14'', and a jack assy. (though these might be best
bought at boneyard to avoid high shipping?)

I may be able to think of another few things.

All parts are for my 83 240D

couldn't

Scarcity is only one half the high-price equation. Desirability
is the other.

Vince, your listings are rather decent, I must say (to quote Martin Short's

Ed Grimsley character).

One cavil, however. The rear doors on the 300TD wagon are larger than the
300D sedans, so it is UNlikely the rear door panel you're selling will fit
both types of W123 diesel. If I am correct in this(there's always a first
time) your should probably revise your listing.

1985 300cd

Come to think of it, it could be my misperception, I've never actually tried
to cross them, thanks for bringing it to my attention, I'll investigate. I
do know the rear doors and quarter glass are shaped differently...

I have to update my disclaimer already too.

I've also got a guy in Taiwan who missed Ships to United States 3 times
and Shipping to United States Only twice! What fun! I want to allow
non-us ebay bidders because so far two of them have US addresses I can send
it to. Hope there's a feature for that...

Yeah, I looked around first and saw similar books for W113 and Adenauers
going for $250+ and I figured this are Bus and Truck versions and couldn't
find any others like it. Now in hindsight I expect they'll go back up
lower
with $79 BIN. Dissapointed when I found the bus service manuial
incomplete,
but got a 50% offer on it oh well. It helps and hopefully a new
owner
will use them.

Finally got some feedback and I'm off! Thanks to all for your opinions

Re: [MBZ] Golly, I hope I'm not on crack

2007-02-27 Thread Curt Raymond

Hi Vince,

Usually to be on crack I figure you need to over value something 3x or take
lousy pictures, and/or totally ignore whats in the pictures in your description.

Minor rust is a good one when you can see rust holes in the picture.
Rusty turds that somebody wants $1000 for are a good example too.

I should point out that smart sellers with stuff thats really worth money will
start bidding for low money because it keeps your auction fees lower.
This is an auction site starting the price higher in no way assures you to get
a better price, in fact it may turn off alot of people and make them NOT bid on
your auction.
What you want to do is start your price low and get people hooked so they'll
pay some obscene price because they don't want to lose...
I had a guy once pay double list price for a carb kit because he got hung up on
not losing the auction. I couldn't believe how crazy he went...

Hello all,

I know I'm not much of participating member of this list, but I do
regularly
check in on the messages and see what you're all up to, and enjoy
reading
many of your comments about various stuff.

I guess I wanted to announce I've had to enter the eBay ring, and I've
found
some of you guys out there too. I know you guys tend to be pretty
critical
of various eBay listings, which, I must say you guys find some good
laughable ones! But, sometimes I can't always figure what it is about
some
postings that qualify them as crack

So, I hope I'm not on crack. I try to be accurate but may make
little
errors, and hopefully I reflect some competance out there.

If you find my listings, you may see some prices are on the high side,
due
to being new, and over valuing the parts. I can't utilize Buy It Now
yet
and try to avoid reserves for the most part. But I also have some fine
hard
to find pieces I think deserve a premium. Well that's the free-market
for
you.

I'll refrain from a totally shameless plug with a link to my eBay
auctions,
but wanted to establish a good repor with this group, as it seems to me
if I
can gain some credit in your eagle eyes, I must be doing ok. (and
crack-free!)

Pfft, you almost owed me a new keyboard for that one pal...

Nope the thought never crossed my mind. I did notice your latest boat payment
on my last credit card bill...

Marshall - I'm sure you are correct, as I haven't seen much price difference
from the local auto parts store to the truck stop to the lube distributor.
I have seen the Mobil 1 Truck and SUV in a 5 quart jug at a SAMs club in
Southhampton, PA.
So while the Delvac 1 does cost a bit more, I'm happy that its the best
protection I can get, and as they say - oil is cheaper than metal!

 Which is cheaper?

No way to measure that. The distribution channels are very different. If
you as a non-commercial buyer go to an Exxon/Mobil distributor Delvac
oil will be a lot more expensive. If you are a large commercial account
 it may be cheaper.

A service station or repair shop buying Mobil 1 by the case or even the
pallet from an Exxon/Mobil distributor will pay more for the oil than if
they were to buy it from Wal-Mart (who is the largest buyer of Mobil 1
oil in the world). Wal-Mart doesn't sell Delvac 1 oil in the US.
