I have to agree with Curley. Most of the Priii I see around my area
are blowing past me on the interstate. In fact, I noticed one earlier
this week during my commute that came up on me almost instantly. I
expected it to be a very different car based on the speed it was
approaching at. I usually do about 68 mph (speed limit is 65). They
were easily doing in excess of 80.

Made me scratch my head.

Only problem with their thinking is that your SDL saved the planet more

It is not speed that kills, it is differences in speed. Kind of like when
they say the fall won't kill you, it's the sudden stop at the end.

I think there used to be a statistic that said something like 90% of all
the road collisions happen to vehicles that are either in the top 10% of
the "normal" speed or in the bottom 10%. The lesson was don't be the
fastest car on the road, but don't be the slowest car either. Perhaps the
Pious drivers aren't in either group most of the time? Regardless, driving
slower than most drivers is making you a "hazard to navigation" which is
not a good place to be.

The Prii around here are mostly driven by old people, and there is so little
traffic compared to bigger counties, I haven't heard or read about any road
rage incidents involving Prii, and I've never seen one exceeding the speed
limit.
The only time I poke along is after midnight when there is virtually no traffic.

Prii cause road rage?
I have sometimes noticed that which you speak of.
I drive slow on the freeway sometimes.
Once I was going 60 in a 70 zone (55 minimum) trying to get a 30mpg tank out of
the E320 wagon and merged onto a new freeway with a Prius up ahead. I
reflexively slowed, no point in passing somebody who was going to repass me
when he got up to speed. 1/4 mile later, I look down at the speedo and I'm
going 45 (remember that 55 minimum speed limit) and still gaining on it at a
good rate. I don't know why I didn't call 9-1-1 to tell the troopers about a
drunk driver on the freeway. Probably because I was going too fast at 60 to
read his plate when I flew by. Should have just said 'there's a blue Prius
going a LOT less than 55 on I-69 SB, might want to check and see if he's sleepy
or having a medical emergency or something'.
Good thing it was early afternoon with virtually no traffic. At 4-6pm he could
have triggered a pile-up.

Lately, the only Prii I notice are the ones impeding traffic in town when they
refuse to go the 30mph speed limit (Charlotte did some 'traffic calming' about
20 years ago and made a couple of major streets one lane each direction with no
passing) and the ones that blow by me on the freeway (like everybody else) when
I go 70mph in a 70 zone).
Mitch.

In my opinion Prius is one of the safest cars on the road for one
principal reason: We Prius drivers drive slowly and carefully. You'll
often see a dozen cars behind a Prius, fuming because they can't drive
as fast as they want. As soon as the road widens they go speeding by;
shaking their fists at us slow and careful Prius drivers. Almost
inevitable, you'll see two or more of those angry drivers involved in
a crash on down the road and it's their own fault. If they had driven
slowly and carefully like us Prius drivers they wouldn't have had an
accident.

That's a better feature IMO than good fuel economy.

think in 2016) The Mercedes ML was one of those on the listing.
