Take the whole fuse box out, then you can get to the plug underneath. Don't remember how many screws and where, but the box comes out. Had to do this to get to the wires on the fuses when I put in a jumper wire. Peter How do you take the whole fuse box out to get to the relays? I don't see any screws or clips. I've had the fusebox out to get to the wiring underneath. It is still out. I don't see any way to release the relay holder part, or the whole thing from the inner fender/firewall. On the Texas 300D, 124, I need to change the bubout relay. On the POSitive, I need to change the window relay. Same problem with both cars. I cant get the back ice cube relay out with the needlenose pliers, no way to get fingers back there. The long bent needlenose have the bent part too loong to pull the ice cube relay. ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

The lamp out module is in the relay box, behind the fuses. You have to remove the plastic cover to get to it. Two failures, either the solder in the base wires (or the "sockets" pushing down away from the pins on the module) or cracked solder in the lamp out module itself. You can pry the cover off and re-solder most times. Peter I figured out it is the huge relay box. tried to pull it out, but it would not budge. Pulled on it with channellocks, and got it up, but not out. With better light, I could see the front plug and rear plug were still attached to the relay. Not good. I got the front plug off with a screwdriver, but the rear plug resisted all efforts. I tried pulling the relay from the SDL with the same results, except that the SDL relay is accessible, where the 124 relay is up under the steel of the cowl. The back plug resisted the screwdriver, so i thought i could wiggle it off with a machinists scribe. the scribe would not budge it either. it only messed up the point on the scribe. Very frustrating. They didn't build 123s with crappy plugs like this! Glad I don't have a cheep class! If the socket plug was all in one, it would either tear out the whole socket, or the relay would come out. with 3 separate plugs, one of which there is no way to get to with the relay plugged in, it is NOT "the best or nothing" Peter, how did you get the relay out? This is a crummy way to light the headlights. I can live without the bubba's bubout "feature." ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Peter I found the schematics online. http://w124-zone.com/downloads/MB%20CD/W124/w124CD1/Program/ETM/ETM.pdf 144 is the windows. Did not look for the bubout yet. That problem is a mechanical one, but I will look at the schematic and may get an idea as to how to get the lights on a different way. It is also on Dave Meiman's site http://www.w124performance.com/service/w124CD1/Program/ETM/ETM.pdf ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
