Yes it is closed for a while longer. The posted detour is to take I-26 I-81. The Blue Ridge Parkway or the road through Smoky Mountain National Park is also possible for non-commerical traffic. I thought that doing the road through the park would be nice, which it was until I got to Pigeon Forge and that other town there. What abominations on the face of the planet. Yeah, coming home I just went south to Atlanta and then east to Charleston. I think it was about the same time, give or take. I am headed that way again first of April, will have to check those links. Well, you are in this beautiful part of the country, then all the sudden you are in a nasty retail entertainment gaudy, crowded, tacky, busy, nasty town with half the places apparently out of business but still contributing to the visual and sensory blight. And traffic lights badly timed every 200 ft to keep you there.
