Turns out it’s pissing out of the connection where the egr cooler connects to the coolant port on the bottom of the left intake manifold. There is an o ring and it either got left out (did not notice any left over parts), or somehow slipped out of place. Whole thing minus the oil cooler itself. I have not had a job go sideways like that in a while. I guess I’ve been fortunate. The last time something close to that happened was when I took the dash out of my Dodge and rebuilt the HVAC box. I put everything back together had no parts left over and everything worked and then one day my son-in-law got in the truck to drive it, and he is a tilt wheel guy…and the tilt wheel didn’t work. I must’ve forgot to reconnect the tilt wheel mechanism. Luckily, the guy in Albuquerque that bought it is not a tilt wheel guy, although I told him exactly what I did. after you get done, doing this a second time, you’ll be quite adept at it and maybe you could start buying cars that have this issue and repairing them could be your little niche of the market. [MBZ] Just finished the oil cooler job on the GL and….
… I get to turn around and do it all over again. Filling it up with coolant using my vacuum filler, would never pull a vacuum. Odd. Pour in a couple of gallons of water, half way thru second gallon start hearing water hitting the floor. Crap. I get the snake camera and see it’s pissing out somewhere above the oil cooler. I thought it was coming out the junction between the to manifold half’s but nope. Has to be coming out of the egr cooler somehow. I’m not sure if somehow I forgot or didn’t get an o ring back in place, or something. Long story short it’s all got to come right back apart again. Wtf? Total failure oil cooler job. I think the only thing I won’t have to remove is the oil cooler itself. I bet I can have it torn back apart within a couple of hours. Going to have to order another round of seals and gaskets. wtf???
