That happened on my Element. Last year it was not driven for several months. The battery eventually went dead due to the constant draw of maintaining memory, clocks, etc. When I charged the battery and started it, the idle speed wandered up and down. I drove it around a bit and after a while it settled down and was "normal" again. I may have misread your post.. On second read, I take it you have NOT installed the new rebuilt injector set yet? Re: [MBZ] Lb7 injectors
You just got some rebuilds that are streaking instead of spraying... For $2400 large ones I would bitch till the quilting club comes after you with rolling pins. What you just described are symptoms of injectors that are not metering fuel properly. Since you just replaced the entire set [?] they are not right. Someone on the flow bench that rebuilt them "didn't". [MBZ] Lb7 injectors
After at least a year of running my Duramax with a couple of bad injectors, I finally spent $2400 and ordered a set of genuine Bosch updated rebuilds with the install kit. Truck runs fine but at idle will start smoking like a pot head who just spent his stimmy check. It’s not real bad smoke at first but if you let it idle a while, when you take off it will send out an embarrassingly large cloud of smoke. And not the rolling coal cool kind. The injectors live under the valve cover and this job seems like it might be similar to replacing oil cooler seals on a 642. Maybe not quite as bad as the turbo and intake does not have to come off but there is a lot involved. A lot of these with bad injectors suffer cracked injector bodies with diesel leaking into the crank case. I do not have that problem, a couple or 3 of them just don’t fully shut off at idle.
