David,
I've never done it on a 115/300D/OM617, but I've done it on OM621 and
616. I've never had a puller. Take the belts off, take the BIG bolt
out and pull/tap. If it is really stuck, put the bolt in a half to
3/4" and give the bolt head a rap with a 1-2 lb hammer (drift pin may
be required, depending on the number and config. of the pulleys.
It is MUCH easier with the radiator (and condensor) out. What
engines I did it on didn't have A/C or the engine was out, so I never
had to mess with the condensor on a filled A/c.
Hello gang,
I'm replacing the front seal on my M115 (2.2L gas; similar block as
OM615) and wondering if it is really necessary to have a puller for
the balancing disc like it says in the book.
Has anybody removed the pulley and balancing disc before without a
puller (not counting those with W116 300SDs that had them fall off
on their own!) or do I need to get one, and wondering if I need the
fancy MB one or will a generic puller do the trick?
D.
