I suspect the dealers willingness to deal was based on it being a used vehicle.
Still in December or January I'm going to buy a new pickup, my Dakota is beat.
I've already informed the wife it may be a full size regular cab since it
*seems* like the prices on those are quite flexable. Although I saw the other
day that Toyota is making the Tacoma with a 4cyl 5spd in a 4x4. Fueleconomy.gov
says 17/22, the Chevy Colorado I was considering is 16/22... Both seem to be
available for about $19k.

That reminds me -- I'll bet RVs are having bargain basement prices along

1/2
the asking price - that might be a winning strategy in most cases of used

Yeah I know, not practical for me either... I do get to work from home at least
1 day a month. Thats $12 right there...

A friend of mine bought an Expedition back in March. The dealership had taken
it on trade for a small car and couldn't get rid of it, they had it priced at
$8k, he walked in and offered $4000 expecting to be shown the door, next thing
he knows he owns it... He's a videographer, doesn't drive a whole lot but when
he does he needs to move alot of stuff. He's also occasionally homeless (sort
of) and sometimes lives in the thing.

- Actually, starting tomorrow, my wife and I will be car-pooling at least
2/3 of the way. It's 35 miles to my office and 45 to hers. The Expedition
(17 MPG) gets parked and we'll drive her 2002 Highlander (22 MPG, but
150,000 miles on it)

I bet the prices for used (and new) SUVs have taken a hit recently.

- My son, the finance manager at a local Ford dealer confirms...They have
lots of inventory sitting on the lot.

2008-05-31 Thread Curt Raymond
Here's a better one "Drill somewhere else, drill yesterday".

You want real change in oil prices get the Fed to STOP printing money and get
our elected officials to get us out of pointless wars that:
A. Cost us boatloads of money
B. Burn tons of fuel
and
C. Have our enemies in the middle east laughing all the way to the bank.

Drilling in the US right now would have zero effect on the price of oil in the
near term. In the long term it will cause us to use up all our oil deposits and
leave us with nothing. Burn Arab oil FIRST, use domestic supplies later.

Want a short term fix for high gas prices? Walk/bicycle/carpool to work, or
work from home. Less gas useage will lower your expense for gas.

It won't help -- we use far more than we have, even if we drill
everywhere. Why else would Shell have gone to Saudi Arabia in 1940?

Is this for ANWR drilling? You know that is not enough to carry us for 2
