I tried it once with 5W30 Mobil One on a warm summer day, didn't get half an ounce in there. What flows through a tight filter easily at 90psi does not flow easily under an inch or two of oil column. Just getting cold oil through the holes is a chore. Diesel fuel would flow much better, but I've never tried it, and a fuel filter probably flows better than an oil filter. Mitch, In your case, you had an IP full of fuel. In my case, I ran dry which means that the system was empty from the tank all the way through the IP. Donald Snook wrote: When I got my first Mercedes Diesel, I was working at the dealership and we had ONE GM diesel mechanic. He told me to fill the filter with Transmission fluid. That is what he did on his Oldsmobile diesel. At least a sealed container of ATF or Diesel Purge is a lot less likely to have dirt in it than the jerry can of diesel fuel sitting in the garage. I'm sure a few specks of grit just barely too small to see wouldn't do the IP any favors, and filling the filter from my tractor fuel can would virtually guarantee that to happen. Would the ATF burn hot and clean out prechamber deposits, or would it burn poorly and make deposits? I don't know. I'm sure the Roosa Master pump on the Olds appreciated the lube, but I doubt it helped for more than an hour or two of running time. A pt or qt of oil in the fuel tank at every fill might really help a fuel lubricated pump. I think 60-100k miles was the normal lifespan for the Roosa pump, if you could get an extra 50-100% with fuel lubricants it would make a significant difference in long term driving costs. ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new parts see official list sponsor: http://www.buymbparts.com/ For used parts email [EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Run out of gas?? I guess if you only have to fill up once every 1000 kms, it's easy to forget the car needs fuel to run. lol. I, unfortunately, am reminded often that my car runs on gas. hee hee.
