Re: [MBZ] Stripping paint off S550 front bumber
I see this stuff for painting the bumper. Looks like the kit is enough to do it, says up to 4sqft. I guess that’s enough for bumper. They mix up your color. https://www.paintscratch.com/neworder/store/item/spukitNM/Spray-Paint-Kit-(non-metal)/ It’s not clear there are specific strippers for bumpers but seems the citrus stuff might work --FT Sent from iFōn > On Jun 12, 2022, at 5:08 PM, dan penoff.com via Mercedes > wrote: > > There is stripper specifically for plastic parts, I know I’ve used it before > but I can’t recall the name or manufacturer. There is stripper specifically for plastic parts, I know I’ve used it before but I can’t recall the name or manufacturer. I’m sure it’s something you could Google. Also be sure to use a paint for plastic parts or there’s a prep spray you can use before painting with regular paint. I’ve done a number of bumpers and they’re not hard to do, like any bodywork, it’s all about the prep. -D > On Jun 12, 2022, at 12:54 PM, Buggered Benzmail via Mercedes > wrote: > > It’s ratty and needs to be repainted. Is there such a thing? With auto paints, the paint manufacturer supplies a flex agent to mix with it for bumpers so it doesn't crack. ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

If the paint stripper is sold in a plastic container, maybe it would be safe? [MBZ] Stripping paint off S550 front bumber
It’s ratty and needs to be repainted. The paint on it now seems pretty thick where it is peeling off. I need to get the rest of it off before repainting. I was thinking a paint stripper might not be a good idea on the plastic except maybe that citrus stuff but I’ve never used that. The solvent stuff would might be too harsh and might also eat the plastic? Heat gun maybe? The bumber is a sorta flexible plastic but pretty stiff and the paint seems kinda flexible so I wonder if that’s special paint not like regular body paint.
