Re: [MBZ] W116 rattles
Hi David, I chased this with my 79 300SD and finally have it mostly under control. First, I disassembled the vents and applied fabric tape in a few places. Its been years, so I can't tell you where. But fabric tape is the trick the factory still uses for issues like this, so its all kosher! Then, I figured out that some of the noise was caused by the pins at the end of the louvers that go into the vent assembly rattling. I packed the holes very lightly with grease to limit and slow their movement and it seems to have worked. Once in a while I still hear some noise, but its mostly fixed! Good luck! Anyone have any tips to get rid of the noises from the heater flaps in the dash or do I just have to live with it? Otherwise the car is spectacular. Duct tape. You need a parrot to ride on your shoulder too. --R (sent from my miniPad) On May 23, 2015, at 10:55 AM, David Bruckmann via Mercedes mercedes@okiebenz.com wrote: Hello gang, Managed to score a W116 SD, 1979, 93k original miles, single owner, no rust blah blah.
