Re: [MBZ] W123 headlights?
Yeah, the Czech or Latvian or whatever they are Cars245 guys can get lots of good stuff. They got me a set of Magnetti-Marelli Euro headlights for my R129 when you couldn’t find Euro lights for an R129 anywhere else. Always order from their web site rather then auction on eBay they do as things are cheaper on their web site. Lamin-X is the film to put on those Euro lenses and others. Best stuff there is. -D > On Oct 7, 2020, at 2:52 PM, Karl Wittnebel via Mercedes > wrote: > > Yeah. Those guys found a new OE US spec reverse light housing for me. Re: [MBZ] W123 headlights?
Mercedes never “stopped doing it”, they never did it to begin with as far as I know, and anyone telling you that doesn’t know what they’re talking about. (Jaime, please step in here if you have time and correct me if I’m wrong.) This was one of the ways they responded to gray market cars in the 1970s. If the part wasn’t something that was sold on domestic (U.S.) cars, the dealers simply can’t get it. It’s in the EPC but it’s not available to them and is marked accordingly. Now occasionally you’ll find a part that does slip through for one reason or another, but that’s with you giving them a part number, not something they’ll see in the EPC or Paragon. For that matter, I’ve seen Euro parts in Paragon (their distribution system software) but they’re NLA for North America. For whatever reason there was one here and as a result the entry is still in the system. But - they can’t order it. And think about the logic - you’re going to be visiting in the States from Europe and you’ll pick up a pair of springs to carry home with you because they’re cheaper here? Yeah, methinks this parts person has been sniffing 000 989 92 71 09. -D > On Aug 12, 2019, at 5:46 PM, MG via Mercedes wrote: > > OK I can see that for the headlights but they said the same thing about a > couple of rear springs that I wanted. Re: [MBZ] W123 headlights?
Does anyone happen to know the MB parts number for the Square Euro headlight for the left side on a 123? The parts guy here can't find it and says that even with the number he may not be allowed to order it because MB Germany is starting to refuse to send any parts not originally put on cars sold in America. Just put the new ones on from cars245 and get some of that Amazon film to put on them. It completely changes the look of the car. Thanks Max, I'll look at them. What you said about the differences is exactly what I was dreading. I can see a bit of something like less fluting in the Hellas. They look almost clearer then the Bosch. Dan, I've been looking on Ebay and found several different lights including a set of Bosch that say slightly pitted. The seller will be sending me some better pictures when he gets back home on Wed. Want to see how good the reflectors are. They are the important thing 'cause like you say I can get new lenses and be good to go. Good idea, Max. You can also search eBay for NOS lenses. I found some from a German seller that cost me a grand total of $75 with DHL shipping from Germany a year or two ago. -D > On Aug 11, 2019, at 11:19 AM, Meade Dillon via Mercedes > wrote: > > When I bought The White Whale (124.193) it had mismatched euro headlights, > and it was obvious they were different. When I bought The White Whale (124.193) it had mismatched euro headlights, and it was obvious they were different. Not enough to worry about. One will say bosch and the other will say Hella if you look close enough. there may be a noticeable difference in the patterns of the prismatic glass.
