Re: [MBZ] What about this tractor 3020 loader

I don't think I've ever seen a left handed loader before...

Re: [MBZ] What about this tractor 3020 loader

2018-02-20 Thread Curley McLain via Mercedes
The problem with 3 pt is that the load would not be leveled so the car
would slide into the tractor/vertical part of the forks. (same problem
as 3 pt mounted plows. The multibottom plows solved this with a road
wheel at the back of the plow, but that is not practical for moving
cars) I suppose it would be possible to design a 3 pt linkage that
could level, or you could get some degree of leveling with a hydraulic
cyl for the third link. Trying to level with the third link would be
very jerky unless a flow control was used to severely limit the fluid
flow. A rear mounted heavy duty forklift mast could lift a lot, easily,
but would make the tractor of limited use for anything else but moving cars.

THe other potential problem with 3 pt is that the car tires closest to
the 3 pt hitch might not clear the ground.

Something like a 2020 utility, 2030, 2040 up to 2440 utility with a rear
forklift would make moving cars easy. (with a smaller, lighter
tractor) (Or MF 65/165/265, IH 454 to 656 utility etc)

I was talking about forks on a 3pt hitch, like round bale movers but
bigger.

Seems like anything category 3 or bigger would do it.
That old 90hp Allis never would have noticed the load, I'm pretty
sure, and traction would have been great.

We'd have to research the capacity of the loader model, but I think so.
Depends on the rear counterweight. I know the 4020 up and 966 IH up can
with the right loader. You probably only need 30-40 hp, but a good hyd.
pump, a large loader and counterweight. The mass of 70-1230 hp
tractors makes it easier to lift cars. With our little 240 IH and rear
forklift we could lift the front end of IH trucks. It was maybe 20 HP
and light.

Could a 70hp Deere pick up a car on long 3pt forks?
I bet the Allis 200 my dad used to have could do it.
