Re: [MBZ] eBay Shenanigans
I asked them if they blocked the buyers who did this, and they said they did it immediately. Apparently, the buyers have no knowledge of being blocked. In one instance they know that the buyer got snagged by this as they sent the seller a nasty note about it after the auction ended. Heh. Karma is a b*tch, I guess. EBay became an all buyer's game a couple years ago, all the protections are for the buyer. If you buy something and have buyer's remorse just say it arrived and isn't in the described condition, eBay always sides with the buyer and screws the seller. I haven't sold anything on there for years because of it. -Curt From: Dan Penoff via Mercedes <mercedes@okiebenz.com> To: Mercedes List <mercedes@okiebenz.com> Cc: Dan Penoff <d...@penoff.com> Sent: Saturday, February 6, 2016 3:32 PM Subject: [MBZ] eBay Shenanigans Was just talking to someone the other day about selling cars on eBay. They were telling me that they’ve had a couple of instances where bidders will purposely bid high to expose the reserve, then immediately retract the bid. This way they know where the reserve is and whether or not they want to go after the auction. I was wondering if this behavior isn’t banned by eBay. They said not, that even if you report people eBay doesn’t do anything about it, at least not that they knew of. They also pointed out that you can look in a member’s feedback profile and see the number of retractions they’ve made to get an idea of how they operate. Didn’t know that. Interesting.
