16 July 1969 puts me on special assignment in Hunza Valley and the surrounding region. Electric there is two D cells in your flashlight, which are likely dead. A mutton fat lamp will not power a TV... so I did not hear of the moon landing for some months on my return to Ft Meade. Me too! I was visiting my cousin over the weekend and she had NASATV playing as sorta background decoration. They were showing various stuff, old films of Apollo astronauts doing stuff, and one brief segment had a friend of mine checking out his T-38 getting ready to go for a flight! So cool!
