used ones should be plentiful. Never heard of any trouble with them though except maybe typical valve seals etc. Sunil Hari wrote: that's a hot-looking car. i might buy it, just for the body and transmission. if the engine goes, how much is a reman or new 2.6L 190 engine? I am uncertain about the future of my 300D, which has been nothing but trouble for the past two months (after five years of faultless dependability). I think I might be able to live with something like this. Deneal, I'd be up for a co-test drive. I'll give you a ring when I hear back from the seller. Tom

Sunil Hari wrote: I've heard the term before, but what makes a 'dogleg' transmission so different? Different shift pattern. It is supposedly beneficial in racing and package delivery applications, though I've yet to hear a really good explanation of why that is. Will almost surely need top end work if not now than soon. That will cost close to $3000 (could be as little as $1000 if you do everything except the machine shop work and most of the hard parts don't need to be replaced)! A factory reman or new M103 WILL BE EXPENSIVE. A good used one will be much more modest, but finding one that won't soon or doesn't need top end work will be difficult.
