I don't know the answer as to how many cans you would
need. Perhaps you should call them with information about the
capacities of your car's system. The usual approach involves
reaching certain pressures as measured by a set of gauges.

I ordered from them a year or two ago. I got the R-12 top up
kit described at the bottom of the page at the above
address. My Porsche 968 had gradually lost R-12 over a 20 year
period - the sight glass was showing just occasional foam and the
cooling barely perceptible. I added a can of stopleak and one can
of their ES-12. Bubbles in the sight glass ceased and the cooling
came back. Still working well.

I had read good things about ES products at www.968forums.com
. As I recall there were some oddities about the ES refrigerant. At
least at one time they were not recommending it for a complete refill
nor did they recommend pulling a vacuum on the system. Again, calling
them about your situation probably would be best.

Is the industrial R-12 available to a certified mechanic? Can I get it? Can

Dallas) compressor from FCP Euro along with a new drier and expansion valve.
I ran out of time in late May, so I took it to my local INDY and had him

great for three weeks, and then the compressor imploded.

Compressor was replaced under warranty, and they even sent me another drier.
Another flush, and this time I used the Industrial ES-12. Followed the

The scuttlebutt a couple years ago was that reman R4 compressors weren't
worth the trouble. Are you running R12 or R134A? R-12 uses mineral oil,
which is benign. There is an issue with one type of oil used with 134 which
kills AC systems fast. As I recall, it generates acid when it meets H2O.

The scuttlebutt a couple years ago was that reman R4 compressors weren't
worth the trouble. Are you running R12 or R134A? R-12 uses mineral oil,

kills AC systems fast. As I recall, it generates acid when it meets H2O.

Re: [MBZ] 1984 300D Air conditioning

2013-08-27 Thread Jon Agne
SorryI am late to this thread, but I just did all of this. My R-4 bit the
dust last November, so I put it off until the spring, and decided to use ES-12
as my refrigerant. Bought a new Behr (made by that same company in Dallas)
compressor from FCP Euro along with a new drier and expansion valve. I ran out
of time in late May, so I took it to my local INDY and had him remove all of
the aforementioned parts and do a compete flush. It worked great for three
weeks, and then the compressor imploded.

Compressor was replaced under warranty, and they even sent me another drier.
Another flush, and this time I used the Industrial ES-12. Followed the
directions, and I have had the BEST cooling for the best 2.5 months. I'm in
Atlanta now, and I feel great in my car.

Hope it all works out for you.

Jon used *ES-12* and *Industrial ES-12*. It is butane/propane mix that Jim

It appears that they call it r-134a replacement now. Understandable,
considering r12 hasn't been used in two decades now. It is the same as ES12.
You can email or call them for details.

Re: [MBZ] 1984 300D Air conditioning

2013-08-27 Thread Jon Agne
What Rick said!

My system had been changed over (half-a** job) by the prior owner. R-134a was
in the system, the low pressure conx was 134, but the hi press conx was still
r-12. Go figure. I was never happy with the AC before the compressor died so
I decided to change back to R-12.. In the meantime, I learned about Enviro-safe
products. Use the Industrial ES-12. It really does make a difference, and
cools much better than the 134a or plain ES-12. The drawback is that it has to
be shipped as hazmat. I think it's worth it. R-12 is good also, but it's WAY
.

R-12 is available if you're interested.  Remove the [MBZ] from the subject line
and drop me an email if you wish.

The coldest temp I could get from my system was 42 degrees from the outside
vents.  I get no flow from the center vents.  Is this caused by the failure of
the center vacuum pod.  Is there a way to replace this pod without pulling the
dash?
Is the industrial R-12 available to a certified mechanic?  Can I get it? Can I
switch back to R-12 from 134a?  Is there a write up on changing back R-12?

Thanks,
Mike

SorryI am late to this thread, but I just did all of this.  My R-4 bit
the dust last November, so I put it off until the spring, and decided to use
ES-12 as my refrigerant.  Bought a new Behr (made by that same company in
Dallas) compressor from FCP Euro along with a new drier and expansion valve.
I ran out of time in late May, so I took it to my local INDY and had him
remove all of the aforementioned parts and do a compete flush.  It worked
great for three weeks, and then the compressor imploded.

Compressor was replaced under warranty, and they even sent me another drier.
Another flush, and this time I used the Industrial ES-12.  Followed the
directions, and I have had the BEST cooling for the best 2.5 months.  I'm in
Atlanta now, and I feel great in my car.

Hope it all works out for you.

those e are the ones to get , gerry.  they are arguably the real delcos, at

for that price as they cost about that wholesale.  just another example of
hhow the chase for low prices yields the poorest value

i think i can manage that.  you maybe have been put into clown parts or

Jabba, can you supply me with a quality compressor, dryer and expansion

Certainly can be. MityVac will tell you for sure.

Theoretically, but I think it's _really_ hard. Hole saw,
fiberglass repair, etc.

Can I switch back to R-12 from 134a?

Yes, a thorough flush is req'd. I did it on SWMBA's 560 SL.

I have heard it recommended that an input filter be
used on formerly-shrapnelled systems. The flush isn't
always quite good enough.
