Owning a 97 model of this car I can assure you that it's quite easy to work on 
once the air cleaner is removed.

Having the exact same engine setup in two W140 chassis cars, I can also attest 
to the ease of servicing with the R129 (SL500) versus the W140s. Since the 
convertible sits closer to the ground you're not leaning over nearly as much as 
you have to with the W140s.

There is plenty of room on both sides of the engine in the convertible as well. 
While I haven't had the need yet, I can see where the engine mounts on the 
convertible are far more accessible than on the W140 chassis cars.

I had a 68 Chevy C10 with an inline 6 for over 20 years.
That is my kind of engine to work on. Can see and reach pretty much 
anything - so long as you have a box to stand on!
My boat is even better. 165HP Mercruiser - 250 cid inline Chevy 6 with 
the doghouse that is removable so it is not in the way.

Sounds just like the deal Advance Auto had last month. M1 filter (or 8.99 off a 
filter priced over 8.99) and five quarts of M1 for $29.99.
Last I knew, the turbo diesel M1 at W-mart was 4 qts for a bit over $20 and the 
other non-extended M1 was five quarts for a similar price. If you have a vehicle 
that you want a M1 filter for, the package works out OK.
I usually buy Hengst from Rusty for the mbz and stock up on PureOne Purolators 
for the Achieva from Amazon when there's a rebate.

Autozone regularly has the 5qt and a filter deal, usually $25-$29. I get it 
anytime I see it, they don't stock MB filters so I get one for the Ranger. When 
I get the oil changed in the Ranger its $5 off because I bring the filter. 
Autozone gives me $20 for every 5 (IIRC) $20 purchases so its actually a pretty 
good deal.

I wish it were so.  Nope, they are from Arkieland.  Rumor I was told 
is that Some daughter and son in law of sam walton started autozone, 
and then got divorced.  she kept autozone, and he bought into a 
company with a few stores and built it into almost 
nationwide.  (Oreilly)  almost everyplace there is or was an 
autozone, you will find oreilly.  Now, there are more oreillys in the 
parts of the country I travel.


So, whether you by stuff from Wallyland, groceries, or autoparts, A 
LOT of the dollars in the US go to Arkieland.

 hm sounds kinda fishy to me  what i would do if you are  interested in 
this car you can probably ask the seller for a test drive but  before the drive 
contact your local police 
 i am thinking this car might be a replate ( a car who's vehicle  
identification number was  taken off of a  different auto )   usually all 
departments 
have an auto squad, that is a unit  that  has contact with the manufacturer not 
just the dealers they have special  knowledge in the hidden vin locations and 
will usually do  a search for  members of the public if the car is in stolen 
status they will obviously not  return it , but if you have not purch. the vech 
no harm doen.
