I think you might have been lucky - if the tranny didn't give you
trouble, the engine would have blown up. They tended to die if you
drove over 55. I guess they were ahead of their time?

Just read the specs. With a top speed of 25MPH, it assures that you 
would be driving in style as bicyclists zoom past you and irate 
motorists flip you the finger...

Indeed. They talk about LSV legislation, but don't define what LSV is. A
Google search yielded the definition, Low Speed Vehicle, one that will do
more than 20 mph but less than 25 mph on a level surface. They are
permitted to drive in areas posted 35 mph or less (a problem for me since
the one road to town is 40 mph).
