At the List's recommendation several months ago, I purchased a
Rowenta DW8080 iron for Shirley. She loves it. It makes a lot of steam.

SWMBO Teresa here is expert on all things to do with fabric and yarn. She is
a member of a group that is the fabric and yarn equivalent of OkieBenz.
Their netwisdom says that Rowenta is no longer the ne plus ultra of irons;
it is now Oliso.

Rowenta is the popular brand, like KitchenAid for mixers.

I think it boils down to a choice between heavy and light, and then whether she
likes a lot of control over the steam, or if simple on/off for the steam is good
enough.

priceless.

Just after removing shorts from the dryer, give each a vigorous shake, then
hang immediately. No wrinkles.

In the vast experience of this list, is there one to be preferred? Or
should we just go to WallyWorld and buy what they have?

Thanks,

I think if you stick with a brand name iron you’ll be fine.

We have a Black & Decker that I’m pretty sure came from Wally World some years
back and it’s served us well. I guess a lot depends on how much you iron, too.
I’m the one who irons in the house as I press my dress shirts for work, since
they’re 100% cotton. That being said, I send them out to be laundered and
pressed these days, as the time it takes to do them myself doesn’t justify the
$10/week or so I pay the dry cleaners.

I used to have a cheap Wal Mart iron, and it was a cheap Wal Mart iron and
ironing clothes was a hassle. Then Misheil and I got a German-made Rowenta
as a wedding gift and it is hard to describe how nice an iron can actually
be.

We have an earlier version of this model and if it isn't the S-Class of
irons, I don't know what is. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FEBPG3G/
