Just a couple more I promise. OK my P90 hours are averaged based on actual work done, not work under way, correct? Some of my PCs were initially allocated large exponents 500 and therefore will not be reporting in for some time - the same machines have never checked in. Is this why my count is lower than when I calculate it? Correct. You'll get the time credit when the result is checked in. PS to the FBI and US WEST!! That's why NONE of the 10.63 CPU years you saw on my credit report was from US WEST computer time!!! The program was stopped *before* a SINGLE MACHINE had reported in for an LL test (admittedly some machines had returned a factor found during the initial factoring test). Secondly, I have some employees that love their screen savers. By adding the Priority line in prime.ini I plan to increase the productivity of the machine. What should the priority be set atI think screen savers are a 4 or 5 right? Will this cause the screen saver never to activate? More importantly will that slow down my employees productivity due to normal apps running slower? The screen saver will still kick in...that won't change. The screen saver, however, will be competing evenly (depending on the priority you set) with Prime95 for CPU time. This may result in choppy graphics. PS #2 to the FBI and US WEST. Contrary to a statement in the affidavit, I had NOT fiddled with the default priority, and NTPrime was, in fact, running at the lowest priority. Third, does anyone have good evidence of the prime95 performance increase by going from 128 to 256Mb. Before I shut down our corporate server I would like to know if it's worth it. Wouldn't necessarily increase the performance unless you happen to have a bunch of memory hog programs loaded. The amount of memory Prime95/NTPrime consumes is not much. (sorry for the PS's...I had to vent :-)

Appreciated, really. While we're at it (don't worry, I'll try and be on-topic), are there any large groups out there that run GIMPS software on corporate computers? I'm just curious if other companies are more wary now (if they're aware of my situation), or if they would view it as I do, i.e. a severe over-reaction. The reason I'm seeking input: I'm in the process of trying to convince my current contract to let me run NT Prime on a few servers that otherwise don't do anything (they're hot-standby's for our clusters). My boss is convinced that it's a basically harmless program, but he just wanted to know how many other companies allow it. It would also be good to know in case this ever does go to court...I could show some examples of other companies who don't view it as a security threat (clearly that is US WEST's prime concern here I gather). Meanwhile, I know have a little P166 chugging away now on factors...I'm back baby!! :-) (using a different ID now...the old "blosser" account scares me now). Plus I now have a P200 laptop that my work loaned me...I may find the next prime yet! ;-) Regards, Aaron
