Re: [meteorite-list] Venus Catastrophic Resurfacing HypothesisChallenged

2010-04-25 Thread Sterling K. Webb

Listoids and Venus Fans,

The Global Catastrophe "Hypothesis" became a problem
as soon as the Magellan dataset was mostly complete. The
data was turned over to the "crater-counters" who are able
to date a planetary surface by the statistical distribution of
crater size, and date it quite precisely, too.

When they announced the age of the Venusian surface
as 520 million years, plus or minus a 40-50 million year
error (or 480 to 560 my), they were immediately surrounded
by hysterical geologists screaming that they had to be wrong.

The crater counters were replaced by other crater counters
who gave the same results. This is a narrow specialization --
crater counting -- there are only so many crater counters,

and it's a very precise technique that has dated every solid
planetary surface we can image with results that are both
consistent and to every appearance accurate everywhere.

A decade or so was wasted on "geological" mechanisms
that could re-surface without outside interference. They
were largely hooey that convinced no one, posing improbable
mechanisms to accomplish world-wide simultaneous subduction.
The problem is not a "hypothesis" problem; it is a "fact" problem
looking for a hypothesis.

If we take a step backward and look at events in the
ENTIRE solar system, we see that:

a) ~600 million years ago, the largest asteroid breakup
in the last 4 billion years occurred (the Flora Family),

b) starting at 600 million years ago, the impact rate in
the solar system jumped up to high levels not seen
for 3.2 billion years (dated by lunar impact spherules
collected by the Apollo missions),

c) between 600 million years ago and 500 million years
ago, the Earth had three catastrophically nasty ice ages,
including the Snowball Earth episode in which the entire
planet froze to the equator, the worst ice age ever,

d) 484 million years ago, the Earth suffered a prolonged
period in which the rate of meteoritic infall was up to 150
times greater than it is today,
http://www.psrd.hawaii.edu/Mar04/fossilMeteorites.html
and

e) the surface of Venus was wholly or partially melted and
resurfaced with fresh rock (just like the old days, huh?).

I see these events as connected, as I've been sometimes
posting here for the last 6 or 7 years. Or, they could be one
freakin' big coincidence...

So, I read the RTT paper with great interest. They advance
solid arguments for the conclusion that the RTT had to be
formed in one discrete episode or interval. In a word, that
it's datable. They then assert that it had to have formed very
early in the planet's history because "thermal modeling
indicates that ribbon fabric formation requires an extremely
high thermal gradient..." That is, a high internal heat flowing
up to the crust as it does at the end of planetary formation
and cooling. In other words, you can't form RTT unless the
crust is very hot. That is the extent of their "dating" attempt.

The ancient origin would be true in the case of the absence
of a viable geological "catastrophic" or global turnover model
ONLY IF you exclude impacts (giant or multiple) large enough
to melt the crust down to the mantle. Best way to prove your
case is to ignore anything that would disprove your case,
I always say.

The RTT are scattered in disconnected patches over the
planet. They could be a relict of ancient terrains or they
could be the places where the 100-300-kilometer asteroids
DIDN'T fall. The fall of planetoid sized bodies, of course,
heats the crust planet wide by degrading the impact energy
into thermal energy. The heat doesn't have to be internal
when you melt a planet's surface.

Hansen and Lopez have another paper on the RTT,
characterizing them as lava "scrum ponds," also from
this same year (2009):
http://www.lpi.usra.edu/meetings/venus2009/pdf/2012.pdf
(I think you ought to hold it down to one theory a year.)

This is a strange idea since the RTT is 1-3 km. HIGHER than
the low flat plains -- why didn't the lava run off? But, then,
I'm no geologist and I don't really know how to make lava
run uphill... How you do dat? In fairness, a few RTT parches
are on the lowest level... but only a few small ones.

Another view on the RTT by another member of the
original Magellan team (this one from 1996):
http://www.agu.org/pubs/crossref/1996/96JE01245.shtml
Author of many papers on Venus; Google "Ivanov Venus."

There's another theory of the RTT, the "pulsating
continent" theory. Bouncy continents... That sounds
like fun:
http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=ArticleURL&_udi=B6V61-4TRR8Y0-1&_user=10&_coverDate=11%2F30%2F2008&_rdoc=1&_fmt=high&_orig=search&_sort=d&_docanchor=&view=c&_searchStrId=1310409062&_rerunOrigin=google&_acct=C50221&_version=1&_urlVersion=0&_userid=10&md5=1a74f8614c1c46478bfbfe77b807a05a

There seems to be this continuing effort in explaining
Venus' geology by "mechanisms without outside interference."
I'm tempted to see it as the old "we're-geologists---take-your

Hi Atul and all,

First, I am pretty sure that I received a Park Forest map from Atul
after I made the request. I know he shared information with
researchers. I would also say this is a trustworthy individual if you
want to give up your data so he can do some ploting.

With that said, what bothers me a bit while you may no longer collect
or buy meteorites, you certainly purchased meteorites from me at one of
the NIAG Conventions. I know you were using strictly for education but
you did buy them at that time. All my best to all.

[meteorite-list] WI Meteorite Fall Type

2010-04-25 Thread eric

Hi everyone, hopefully this email finds you all well.

Just a quick question, sorry if this has been discussed already, I'm
in the field and have intermittent internet. Does anyone know
type/class yet, and who is doing classification? We know it's a
gorgeous brecciated meteorite and that it's possibly an L, but that's
it...

[meteorite-list] Fake Lunar Landing Response

2010-04-25 Thread Paul H.
in Fake Lunar Landing Response at
http://six.pairlist.net/pipermail/meteorite-list/2010-April/063904.html
E. P. (Grondine) wrote:

"In "theosophist" religions, the Moon, Mars, and other
planets were all inhabited. One of these "theosophist"
religions, the Lemurian Fellowship, was stolen by
Richard Kieninger, who went into business with David
Hatcher Childress."

...text deleted...

"Insanity has a logic of its own, in this case a well
developed framework of delusions. Why didn't the
Apollo astronauts land on the Moon? Because they
did not show the Moon dwellers' remains. It fits
right in with the Face on Mars for them."

It is not only the "theosophist" religions that have a theological
basis for denying human beings having landed on the Moon.
In addition, a minority of Hindus, who promote "Vedic science"
and argue that the "deevolution" of human beings has been going
for the last few billion years also are very strong proponents of the
Moon Landing hoax claims. This position is based on what they
consider to be the impossibility for the Apollo astronauts to have
traveled to the Moon because of both physically or spiritual factors
that they argue are clearly explained in the "Vedas." Their
theological "arguments" against the Moon landings bring real are
discussed in detail by a Hare Krishna web page, "Man On The
Moon–A Colossal Hoax that Cost Billions of Dollars" at;

http://krishna.org/man-on-the-moon-a-colossal-hoax-that-cost-billions-of-dollars/

For example, this web page states:

"The Vedic account of our planetary system is
already researched, concluded, and perfect. The
Vedas state that the moon is 800,000 miles
farther from the earth than the sun. Therefore,
even if we accept the modern calculation of 93
million miles as the distance from the earth to
the sun, how could the “astronauts” have traveled
to the moon–a distance of almost 94 million miles–
in only 91 hours (the alleged elapsed time of the
Apollo 11 moon trip)?"

Further down it, the above web page states:

"Another important reason why the manned moon
landing must be a hoax is that, according to the
Vedas, each planet has its particular standard of living
and atmosphere, and no one can transfer from one
planet to another without becoming properly qualified.
This means that if someone wants to go to Mars, for
instance, he has to give up his present gross material
body and acquire another one suitable for life on
that particular planet."

Other revealing web pages are:

The Apollo Moon Landings are Science Fiction
http://krishna.org/the-apollo-moon-landings-are-science-fiction/

The Moon Missions: Oh Ye of Little Faith
http://krishna.org/the-moon-missions-oh-ye-of-little-faith/

Moon Mission Web Pages
http://krishna.org/tag/moon-mission/

As in case of the antievolution fervor of various Young and Old
creationists, I personally suspect that a significant force behind
the arguments behind the claims that the Moon Landings were
a hoax is a religious one. I also suspect that unlike the creationist
antievolutionists, the promoters of the Moon Landing hoax have
been for the most part, but not always, been careful to hide their
religious motivations behind seemingly secular web sites. Of
course as in case of antievolution, there are also a number of
conspiracy fans, who for purely secular, nonreligious reasons,
advocate and promote the fiction about there having been a
Moon Landing hoax.

Yours,

Paul H.

the trip. And they would be Todd Parker, Jack Schrader, and Jim Baxter. Although
I didn't get to spend as much time with them as I would have liked, I was very
happy to finally meet them all (even if they did show me up with their big
finds! ;-)

Hello List,

I wanted to write a few things about the fantastic hunting experience last
week in Wisconsin. It was a real blast. ( No pun intended... THIS time.)

I knew I would naturally run into some long time friends, such as Mike,
Greg, Rubin, Robert, Geoff, Dave, Rob, Cottingham and many others. It was
great to see them all again. What I didn't know was that I would make such
terrific new friends.

On the way back to the hotel at the end of the first day's hunt, Jerry
and I drove by a couple of guys walking up to their cars. We pulled over to
ask if they had had any luck. They started telling us what they knew about
all of the finds so far... and VERY unselfishly invited us to join in the
hunt with them on the land they had received permission to hunt. I had never
had the pleasure of meeting these guys, but when they told me their names, I
instantly recognized them Larry Atkins and Karl Aston. We all hit if off
immediately and ended up becoming great friends over the next 2 and 1/2
days. Larry's bodacious enthusiasm and happy personality is quite
infectious. A very fun loving guy. And Karl, is one of the most laid back,
easy-to-get-along-with guys you could ever hope to meet. He worked
tirelessly driving around and asking for permission to hunt in the
ever-changing and growing strewnfield. I'm sure that all of you who already
know them
will agree completely.

The four of us were usually the very first (at least by a few minutes)to
meet for continental breakfast at 6:30am sharp each morning, and were in the
field hunting by 7:30am, not coming in until around 7:30pm. We often hunted
along fairly close to each other, and spent some of the time exchanging "old
hunting stories". It was great. We also had the pleasure of teaming up with
a local photographer they had met and invited along for the hunt, Mark
Hirsch. This "newbie" was walking just several feet away from me and the
others when he "had that magic moment" and found his very first meteorite
ever. Another new member, christened into our crazy obsession. It was a true
pleasure to meet and spend some time with him as well. I have a feeling
we'll all be seeing more of him at future falls.
( You can see "the team" in action in today's RFSPOD. A big thanks to Bob
King and Michael Johnson for posting the photo! Its a great shot.)

Mine and Jerry's overall experience there was perfect. Everyone was very
friendly. The weather was great, and the scenery was beautiful. I saw quite
a bit of the native wildlife, including a dozen or more wild turkeys, a mink
or muskrat, a duck sitting on her nest of eggs, and my first wild badger (
probably was good that I was sitting IN the car when he popped up out of his
hole just a few feet away and stared at me for a minute or so! He didn't
look very happy to see me).

In the end, we did technically find some meteorites, small as they were.
In fact, as far as I know, I probably hold the dubious distinction of one of
my finds possibly being THE smallest specimen found . a whopping 3.2g.
But, hey. I'm not complaining! ;-)

And then there's the incredible experience of the young school boy finding
the meteorite live on camera! Unbelievable. A quick shout-out of thanks to
Mike Farmer for calling and alerting us to the finds there, enabling us to
expand our search area.

Very best wishes to all those who went and/or are planning on going. Good
luck!

Sincerely,
Robert Woolard

Re: [meteorite-list] planting crops

2010-04-25 Thread mlangen
If you mean the Wisconsin field, plowing/planting has been going on for the
last ten days, or so. We have had an early spring, so corn and some other
crops are already going in the ground. This weekend's rains have slowed
things slightly, but expect planting to continue this week and beyond.
Alafalfa and grass is already well up.

Hunting will likely continue in pastures and other uncultivated land.

[meteorite-list] X37B - OT

2010-04-25 Thread Greg Catterton

""Somewhere above earth is America’s latest spaceship, a 30ft craft so
classified that the Pentagon will not divulge its mission nor how much it cost
to build.

The mysterious X37B, launched successfully by the US Air Force from Cape
Canaveral on Thursday, using an Atlas V rocket, looks like a mini-Space Shuttle
— but its mission is top secret.

It is officially described as an orbital test vehicle. However, one of its
potential uses appears to be to launch a surge of small satellites during
periods of high international tension. This would enable America to have eyes
and ears orbiting above any potential troublespot in the world.""

2010-04-25 Thread cdtucson
Guido,
I try (emphasis on try) to follow Hawking and interestingly, the main reason he
fears aliens is because he says they would be far more advanced then we are.
This because they got here. If they are advanced enough to travel such great
distances (at least 100's of light years) they are probably smarter and way
more advanced than we are.
Thank you for the link.

[meteorite-list] LPL Catalina Observatories Open Day

2010-04-25 Thread Richard Kowalski
For those of you in the Tucson area, or those who will be visiting on May 22nd,
we, along with the Mt. Lemmon Sky Center will be hosting an open house on Mt.
Lemmon. This open house is part of the ongoing festivities for the Lunar and
Planetary Lab's 50th anniversary celebrations.

Most of the CSS team will be on hand, and in addition to the other activities,
our 1.5-m (60") telescope will be open for tours. As you all know, this is the
telescope that discovered 2008 TC3, the parent body of the Almahata Sitta
meteorites.

We'll also be giving demonstrations on how we search for NEOs. I will be just
coming off a three night run on this telescope, so we'll probably be able to
show you images of our latest discoveries.

While the open day is free and runs from noon to 6pm, space on the site is very
limited, so all of our guests will need to register no later than May 14th.

Unfortunately only those who register on time will be permitted on site.

To find out more information and register, please visit:

[meteorite-list] Astronomy Day outreach

2010-04-25 Thread Linton Rohr

Good day list,
One of my local astronomy clubs held an Astronomy Day event at the local
library yesterday. In addition to the usual evening star party, there were
afternoon presentations inside. Outside the entrance, I set up my solar
scope and a table full of meteorites. Along with the display cases, I had a
substantial sized NWA stone and a Gibeon iron for folks to hold onto and
examine. After all, my sign says "METEORITES - See and Touch Rocks from
Space!". I did try to keep the membrane-cased Esquell slice in my own grasp,
though. ;^)
I had several hundred visitors, mostly families, over the course of 5 hours.
The level of interest was quite high. Most of them (all?) had never seen a
meteorite before. I tried to explain to all the three main types, and then
go into other topics depending on what they seemed to be most interested
in. The Lunar and Martian box attracted a lot of attention. I told a lot of
hammer-tales as well, with Peekskill, Claxton, Sylacauga, New Orleans, Park
Forest, etc. on hand. The historic pieces, such as Weston, Ensisheim,
L'Aigle and Orgueil made for further conversation, for those with sufficient
attention span.

To my surprise, not a single person mentioned the Meteorite Men show.
I had a great time sharing my collection, my (limited, but growing)
knowledge, and stimulating young minds.
Linton

Having met most of the Apollo astronauts way back when, and having joined Dr.
Aldrin and Jack Schmitt over buffets several times, here's a little more of the
story, right from here in Kempton, Illinois.

In "theosophist" religions, the Moon, Mars, and other planets were all
inhabited. One of these "theosophist" religions, the Lemurian Fellowship, was
stolen by Richard Kieninger, who went into business with David Hatcher
Childress. When Richard was thrown out of his community by his own followers
for the second of three times for seducing their wives and teenage daughters,
Hatcher went "independent" with Richard's mailing list, founding "Adventures
Unlimited Press". He later gathered some of those "theosophist" materials
together to write "Extra-terrestrial Archaeology". When this confused Brit came
along David stuck a deal with him, and ran his materials out via his well
developed computer mailing operation and PR channels.

Insanity has a logic of its own, in this case a well developed framework of
delusions. Why didn't the Apollo astronauts land on the Moon? Because they did
not show the Moon dwellers' remains. It fits right in with the Face on Mars for
them.

Hopefully the new lunar images showing the Apollo hardware will put an end to
this nonsense, but I doubt it: I think the believers and confused, some 7% of
the young US population, will simply reject them as being fakes as well.

Strike at the root instead. If any of you want a copy of "Amazing Stories", my
biography of Richard, simply e-mail me off list. And be sure to share it with
your friends.

E.P.

This is excellent info to know. Has anyone tested any Iceland ash?
Future claims of micrometeorites discovered in one's gutter

[meteorite-list] Hawking on Alien Life - Alan Hills, Yamamoto, Nakhla

2010-04-25 Thread countdeiro
Hello List,

In line with NASA's 2009 paper (Life on Mars: New Evidence from Martian
Meteorites - McKay, Thomas-Keprta, Clemett, Gibson, Spencer, Wentworth).
Stepehen Hawkins makes a cryptic comment in this release touting his soon to
debut telly program (May 9th - Discovery Channel)surmising that aliens we might
encounter will be in microbial form. He also opines we should avoid contact
with alien life forms.

How prophetic considering the microbacterial and fossil remains found in Alan
Hills 84001, Y000953 and most remarkably in "Nakhla".

[meteorite-list] Wisconsin -- Thanks

2010-04-25 Thread mlangen
If there is a lesson I have learned since April 14, it is that collecting is
one thing -- hunting is something else altogether.

A number of you have responded to my earlier posts regarding the Livingston
hunt, calling and emailing with valuable tips, information and suggestions.
I certainly did not expect or ask for specific find locations (which, not
surprisingly, remain highly "proprietary" for the time being). But the
general information and sound advice you have so unselfishly provided will
be very, very useful to a novice hunter like me.

As it turns out, my current medical issues are likely to sideline me for
somewhat longer than I had expected. But, when I am back on my feet, I plan
to once again try to avail myself of this exceedingly rare opportunity to
make a find from a fall I actually witnessed.

So, to those of you who have generously offered help and encouragement in
various ways, my sincere thanks. You know who you are.

I'm just guessing, but if Mt. St. Helens ash attracts to a rare earth
magnet, I suppose all volcanic ash will do the same. It didn't jump to it like
a nail would, but it had just amount attraction as a stony chondrite. It
might be expecting a little too much from Granny's pot holder magnet to do
the same though..

2010-04-25 Thread Linton Rohr

Hmm. Very interesting.
I was recently tryring out my "new" metal detector (thanks, Ruben) on our
property in southern Utah and discovered that the "lava bomb" boulders
strewn across the landscape are "hot rocks" and are slightly mag-attracted.
The boulders were ejected from Boulder Mountain and Thousand Lake Mountain
20 to 30 million years ago in a lava flow eruption. They were distributed
around the area by subsequent glacial activity. In addition, I found a great
deal of aluminum foil, and a few bullet casings. No meteorites... yet.

Re: [meteorite-list] Wisconsin meteorites for sale

2010-04-25 Thread cdtucson
Warren, Steve, List,
This is insane. IMHO it does not speak to the value of the other meteorite
finds at all. Unless all things are equal?
Provenance is King here.
1). This is from the "meteorite men" Himself.. People will pay more because it
is a Steve "self find".
2). If Bob Haag had found this it might be worth even more.
3). First sale ( offering) on eBay of this material. The ist's are always a
premium. ie. biggest, etc.
4). Was featured on the news and likely on next season's show.
5). Early recovery. No weathering.
6). No other meteorites from this fall will have the same impact as this one.
Except maybe the hammer stone from shed.
7). This in No way reflects the true value except for this sale and by Steve.
8). The implication is that now Farmers will prefer Steve as a partner unless
others do offer these stupid prices as well.
9). Steve is showing signs of true brilliance here.
Sorry Steve, Just stating the obvious here.
Will you sell my finds for me If I find any?

[meteorite-list] Livingston Meteorites on "Whad'Ya Know?", NPR

2010-04-25 Thread Richard Kowalski
The NPR radio program "Whad'Ya Know?" yesterday had Brooke Norsted, Assistant
Director of the UW Geology Museum on the program yesterday. The program itself
comes from Madison, Wisconsin.

Her segment came on 6 minutes 45 seconds into the third half hour of the
program and lasts 10.5 minutes.

The direct link to download the third half hour is here:
http://www.notmuch.com/Audio/RAfiles/100424c.ram

Note that this is a "Real Audio" format file so you must have RealPlayer or
another player that handles Real format to play the file.

The "Whad'Ya Know?" podcast is also available on iTunes if you have that
instead.

Nothing new about the fall is reveled that the readers of this list don't
already know, but I thought some may be interested to hear the segment.

Re: [meteorite-list] Wisconsin meteorites for sale

2010-04-25 Thread Warren Sansoucie

That's just the thing. Meteorite Men is a great hit. It has a lot of new
followers. These pieces have a lot more going for them besides the fact that
they are an extremely popular fall. They were found by Steve during filming.
They are going to hold a higher value, especially if the collector keeps all
the records and weights in tact.

Hi Ruben,

I'm sure if it was a private sale and the cost price per gram was not
revealed then that would not upset any one...so I shouldn't worry.

I could solve the whole problem for you and those still out there though.
I'll buy the stone you showed for $5/g and we can make sure it gets really
well known out in Livingstone...then everybody will be happy ;-)

Great work by the way Ruben/Hopper

Cheers,

Graham, UK

[meteorite-list] Fw: Fw: a final goodbye to everyone

2010-04-25 Thread James Balister
Steve,  I always thought you were a cool guy.  I also know that you will be
back.  Meteorites are in your blood , like mine.  I have been into meteorites
off and on since about 1955!  You can't really let go!  You will be back!
Good luck in your new adventures!  What are your new adventures?  I am one of
the guys that you sent a free metreorite to about 5 years ago.  Once again
thanks for that!   Good luck to you!

[meteorite-list] Meteor Site

2010-04-25 Thread Ed Majden

Hi again, George:
Thanks for the heads up on that meteorite site. I just signed up
and am awaiting approval. I also have a nice collection of meteorite
samples, around 100 bought a number of years ago before prices went
crazy to the ridiculous values of today. Got most of mine from David
New in Anacortes, Wa. He has since abandoned selling meteorites
because of escalating selling prices. I have some nice Canadian
samples but no export permits. I don't intend of selling them anyway.

Belly River - Alberta - H6 chondrite - 18.3 g
Benton N.B. LL-6 amphoterite - 2.13 g fragment
Peace River- Alberta - L6 - 20.1 g slice
Bruderheim - Alberta - L6 - 8.7 g slice
Abee - Alberta - Enstatite chondrite E4 - 14.5 g slice
Springwater - Sask. - Pallasite - 16.5 g slice
Tagish Lake - B.C. - c.c. c12 - micro mount 0.046 g
Buzzard Coulee - Sask -H4 - 2.9 g and 5.6 g
Whitecourt - Alberta - Iron - 11 g fragment

I would like to find others but most are in university and
professional collections so you seldom see them for sale. Would like
to find an Innisfree! Fat chance of that!

Cheers:

Re: [meteorite-list] Wisconsin meteorites for sale

2010-04-25 Thread ensoramanda
That should help the relationship between the farmers and hunters
thenespecially if they work out the price per gram as you have or follow
the posts on this list!

I think the landowners will take quite a lot of persuading that it is very
unlikely that larger pieces will sell for this price per gram.

[meteorite-list] Volcanic Ash is Magnetic

2010-04-25 Thread GeoZay

Well...just had an Eureka moment. I was sitting here at my desk with a
bottle of volcanic ash from Mt. St. Helens and a earth magnet in my hand. I
brought the magnet to the ash and discovered that the ash was attracted to
it. I didn't know this before...son of a gun. :O)

Hello list.I knew someday this day would come.I am hanging it up as a
meteorite

collecter and a very bad met hunter. After 12 years I am leaving meteorites
with my head held high.I will be leaving alot of great friends and a hand
full
of assholes, but better with alot than the latter.I have sold off my entire
main
collection. That is the collection where I had at home.I'll continue to
have my

private primary collection put away,so I'll be into meteorites.I have also
closed my website.I will also be unsubscribing from the met list next
month.So
I will pass away into the night without a whimper.I'll miss everyone, but I
look
forward to enjoying my life with my wife and now happily again being DEBT
free

which is a great feeling.Also I'll miss giving away freebies,but I really
enjoyed those times.I hope all who benefitted from those were happy as
well.Well
there is not much more to say.I wished I could have found some of those
new

stones last weekend.The lord

is pointing me into a new phase of my life so I
look with determination as to what will be like.Good luck to everyone and
I hope
you all find the finds of a lifetime. It has been a hell of a ride.Good
luck and

god bless to everyone. This time it's for
good.

Yes, Darryl, I agree completely. Jeff, that's a wonderful work indeed.

Countless compliments, and thank you so much - I feel enriched.

Best regards,

Oh my...oh my

Jeff, Kudos!

What a fantastic package; so well done.

If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend taking four minutes to
watch a really terrific piece.

Once again, bravo! (In fact, it's so good it's going to attract
attention---so you better get your licenses in order ;-)

Hi all,

I had this idea a while ago and I figured with the latest WI fall and
some spare time today, I would finally get it done.

Hope you like it:

Re: [meteorite-list] Astro Bob's Blog

2010-04-25 Thread Linton Rohr

Yes sir, good stuff there. Very well written.
I bought my first few meteorites from Bob about 5 years ago via an Astromart
ad.

I had no idea you could actually buy your own meteorites prior to that.
I thought I'd get 4 or 5 and that would be the end of it.
Talk about the tip of an iceberg!
Linton

You should give us a heads-up when you add a story, Bob.

Hi all,

I only became aware of Bob King's blog this morning during off-list
correspondence. I had never seen it before but I'm glad I have now. It's
well worth taking a look. There are some great recent pics of the hunt in
WI along with dialogue. Great stuff.
