Re: [meteorite-list] Newcomers and the Meteorite world (was STOLENmeteorites - from Allen Shaw)

2010-08-16 Thread Barry Hughes
There is evidently more to IMCA membership than just sponsorship and fee.
Whenever there is an organization that has the ability to modify your
business in ways you don't agree, than membership is a concern or at
least something to think about. The Chamber of Commerce decided to
become very political and I could not belong anymore...just an
example.
If the basis for an organization evolves beyond the beginner's and
member concepts of the organization, than it may be time to relieve
the organization of such power.
I believe in the IMCA reassuring the buyer that the member is honest
and the product is labeled honestly. That's the major extent of what
I thought the organization was. I have several emails concerned that
the organization has taken different responsibilities and some
officers have conflicting interests. It's a shame, I have met some
very remarkable people within the IMCA and don't understand the emails
I get. Everyone is 'quiet' about this problem...I get emails
requesting this. I don't like that!!!
Something is wrong and I hope the appropriate people fix this. Nobody
needs to be quiet...we should be way beyond that, if not...maybe it
should not be 'we'.

 John, List,
All due respect and nothing personal here but.
I'm quite sure you know that the $20.00 annual membership fee  is not a
deterrent for anybody to Join the IMCA.
But the truth is that there are many reasons one has to contemplate when
 joining any organized organization.
To me the first considerations are need and desire to join.
Do the pluses outweigh the minuses?
Do you want that organization to have a say in the running of your business?
Do you want a competing dealer (IMCA board member) to have a say in the
 running of your business or
do you feel that that would  be a conflict of interest on their part?
Do you want to have freedom of speech or would you rather have to keep quite
 about organizations inadequacies?
Do you want to have to agree with all of the folks running the org at all
times? Or face possible harassment and or abuse by them.
Because it's possible that nobody would ever dare to say anything they
disagreed with for fear of being ejected or black balled?
As Al correctly pointed out there are many reputable dealers who have chosen
NOT to join for there own reasons.
I think the word AD needs to be in the subject box if you are pushing
 memberships here? HaHa.
In all seriousness. This is a relatively small community.
You misstep as a dealer and you are pretty much toast in this biz. Add to
that  eBay and PayPal's own protection policies and you really don't have
 much to worry about.
I personally offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee . Period. If for any reason
you are not 100% satisfied with anything I sell
you may return it for a full refund. Most dealers I know have the same policy
 so no worries.
I collect so, I have material for comparison with other material. Pictures
don't always cut it. I need to see and feel it in person.
I am lucky to have been able to see and touch thousands of meteorites in my
21 years as a looker at every Tucson show since 1989.
And I must say. There are tons of great people in this Field.
 My 2 cents.

2010-08-16 Thread Linton Rohr

Greg, Michael, List,
Glad to hear that many of you were able to enjoy the show.
I spent three days up in the White Mountains, east of Bishop, CA, near the
Nevada border. The area is home to the Bristlecone Pines - the oldest living
things, at up to 4,000 years old. Being in the rain shadow of the Sierra
Nevada, we didn't see a single cloud the whole time. The sky was very
transparent, and dark enough that we were able to easily see the zodiacal
light beginning around 3:00 or 3:30. We enjoyed plenty of DSO observing
early on, when we weren't just sitting back watching for meteors. I didn't
have a counting device, but I'd estimate we saw about 100 before midnight,
and another 200 between midnight and 4:00. They seemed to be almost equally
divided between bright ones with ion trails and faint ones without. Of the
bright ones, almost half of them had persistent trains, visible over 60-90
degrees across the sky. The shorter ones probably spanned 10-15 degrees. We
had a couple of long skippers, an orange firework that seemed to explode
and then fall, and even a very bright one that might have qualified as a
bolide. A great night, all in all. One that I'll always remember.

Looks really good, and she is very pleased with it. We have had no

You should have no trouble if the rock is well set into the gold, but I
would advise them to make sure it is held in physically rather than just
relying on adhesive/glue.

Martian Shergottites should easily be robust enough, as long as it is
not too big..

Re: [meteorite-list] Newcomers and the Meteorite world

2010-08-16 Thread Martin Altmann
Hi Greg, Al, Barry...

I just was surprised to find that other dealers, and a fair amount of them
dont have personal collections

Hmm Greg, how would you quantify that percentage of dealers, who don't have
an own meteorite collection?
My own impression is, that those, who haven't any are quite exceptions and a
very small minority.

if you have 1 meteorite you are a collecter. If you have 2 meteorites you
are a dealer.

It simply depends on, and this question was posed often here on the list,
how you define dealer.
Maybe a more formal definition, abstracting away from personal intents and
motivations, could be more exact?
A dealer is someone, who sells regularly meteorites and does it in form of a
registered business.
And the other part of the meteorite market could be called amateurs in
the original and positive meaning of this word. Amare = to love something.
(which doesn't mean in reverse, that the dealers in this definition
wouldn't love meteorites).

like in the good old days.

I fear I can't fully agree with Al, those mythic days were in my remembrance
not so good and golden like our days.
The choice a meteorite collector had was compared to today extremely
limited.
So few meteorites. So few dealers, that today some would speak of an
oligopoly.
The communication - wouldn't say, that it was more personal than today,
where emails and words can be sent and received in unlimited quantities and
almost with the speed of light.
Without internet there weren't any forums or lists, where collectors could
exchange their information and discuss. Meteorite people were much more far
away from novelties, new finds, results from the current research. And
everything was s slow in these days.

The collector inevitably had to be an autodidact, cultivating his passions
from the very few books available and the information from the few other
meteorite persons, he knew (hoping that the kind of information wasn't
biased by the intention of his counterpart to foist a meteorite upon to
him).

No possibilities existed to get an overview of the pieces currently
available on the international market
and especially almost no possibilities existed to compare and to challenge
prices.

It was the time of letter on papers and of phone calls. If you were lucky,
you got a paper photo or a hand drawing of the specimen, you were interested
in - but most specimens you were buying blindly.
The collector simply had to swallow, what the dealer dished up.

The only possibility, to do that, what now we all are doing in an instant or
in seconds, was to travel to the largest mineral shows, where some of the
handful of meteorite dealers then took part in.

Today some veterans glorify these old days, because there are many more
meteorites, many more offerers and such semi-anonymous platforms like ebay.
But if they would be willing to spent only a fraction of the time and
arduousness, they expended in the old days, they rhapsodize, they would see,
that the meteorite scene of today is still very manageable.
The number of new finds and the quantities of the desert finds, the other
new finds, the new falls and the additional late finds of historic
meteorites - the number of the collectibles! - is still very limited.
Especially compared to quite all other fields of collecting.

So is the number of offerers too.

We have more than 300 cities on the globe with more than 1 million
inhabitants.
In the very most of them, you won't find any meteorite dealer.

Well and today... if I would have told to Al 20 years ago: Al, I give you a
lunar at 800$ a gram, a howardite at 10$ a gram, a CK at 8$ and an LL at 50
cents and an acapulcoite at 50$ and those Texas, Kansas ect. OC-stinkers
from another country at 5cents a gram..
and Al, have you heard about so called R-chondrites, brachinites, CBs, CHs,
CM1, KREEP and so on,

then he probably would - caring as he is - had instantaneously called the
emergency doctor :-)

I think, what causes many veterans to be so sentimental is, that the The
journey is the reward-notion of meteorite collecting is partially lost, as
in former times you had to do so endlessly more to get a specimen into your
collection.
Partially - because still to get the very best stuff and the most
extraordinary pieces in a collector still today can't be passive. And as
irritating arbitrarily the new wealth of rare types may occur to the
veteran, one still doesn't get all, what one wants to have.

And I wouldn't say, that the personal contact between seller and collector
has lost that much quality,
still the relation is based on trust and reputation (and even still today
often on mutual respect) - at least in certain segments of the market, which
exceeds the occasional curio-trade of little shooting stars - and also
partially on ebay, as with the maturing of the beginning collectors, they
soon develop their preferences regarding dealers, service and reliability.
I'd say, quite only the methods of communication have changed, it's

Sounds like a great time, Count. I'm happy for you.
I have a hard time imagining anywhere near Las Vegas being pitch dark
though. I could see the Vegas light dome from the White Mountains, near
Bishop CA the last few nights. As I normally do from Red Rock Canyon S.P.,
near Mojave, CA. And from the North Rim of The Canyon. And the other side of
St George, Utah. I think the Vegas light dome must cover about the same
square mileage as the state of Nevada. You think you could have a word with
those casino folks? ;^)
Just teasing...

 Hi Shawn and List,

It will be severe clear tonight as pilots say here in Nevada. We got
lucky. I rounded up the two youngest grandsons, Michael 12, and Vincent
10, and we'll get up at one o'clock and take the Jeep out into the pitch
dark desert north of Las Vegas. We have lawn chairs, iced chocolate and
coffee. Temp is forecasted to be 70 degrees Farenheit during the
observation period. 105 degrees after the sun comes up. The boys will want
to hunt meteorites on the way back.

Best to all...and to those on the West Coast of America...good viewing!

[meteorite-list] AD - New Unusual Achondrite - Eucrite, NWA 6264

2010-08-16 Thread Carsten Giessler

Dear Listees,

i have a new Achondrite-Eucrite classified now.
It's NWA 6264, a very fine grained, shocked basaltic Eucrite breccia.
This is very unusual material, unlike any i have seen before. It looks
like lunar!

I have a few slices (there will not be to many, because the TKW is low,
only 273g.)

for sale, please see here:

www.gi-po.de/ebayfolder/nwa 6264 eng.html

Many thanks for viewing best wishes,

Carsten

Hello All,

http://www.gi-po.de/nwa%206264.html

Just a short note to let you know that no. 11 is no longer available
because this little beauty is now part of my meteorite collection :-)

If it wasn't for the tell-tale Fe/Mn ratio of 31.62, you could easily
mistake that unique eucrite for a lunar meteorite. A must-have!

[meteorite-list] Animal Farm - Was: Newcomers and the Meteorite world

2010-08-16 Thread bernd . pauli
Brings memories of reading Animal Farm in high
school...it's going to blow up one of these days.

Animal Farm, Chapter 10:

All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others.

Twelve voices were shouting in anger, and they were all alike.
No question, now, what had happened to the faces of the pigs.
The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to
pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible
to say which was which.

Oh, I love that song but I am not quite sure
why I like it so much. Must be the *rambling* ;-)

If the basis for an organization evolves beyond  the beginner's and

 the organization of such power.

[meteorite-list] C is for collectors

2010-08-16 Thread Steve Dunklee
Seems to me the C in IMCA stands for collectors. If it was a dealer
orginazation it would be the IMDA. When shopping on the internet for meteorites
or related material I know I can trust the high ethics of members of the IMCA
that any purchase made is of the highest standards and quality. With my being a
collector and not a dealer I guess I should buck up some day and join the IMCA.
I applaude Adam Hupe and the other deaers taking massive cutting losses to
provide small economical samples of some awesome rare material to the small
potatoe collectors like myself. Its not in my budget yet but in order to have a
sample of every main class and not anomolus meteorite. My wish list is an
Angrite, Lodranite, and Brachinite. With a few exceptions I have samples over
20grams of nearly everything else. I have been trying to collect both a slice
and an individual of every class. Some day on one of my daily walks, knowing
what the stuff looks like It would be nice
to make my own find. Have a great day! Steve

Re: [meteorite-list] C is for collectors

2010-08-16 Thread Linton Rohr

Good point, Steve.
Perhaps I'm being naive, but I think we have a fine group of officers and
directors. While I don't know all of them personally, I can't imagine them
perpetrating the kind of nefarious treachery that some folks seem to be
concerned about. I appreciate them volunteering their time to make the
meteorite collecting community a better place - for ALL.
Still, we each have the freedom to join or not. Myself? I joined as soon as
I felt I was worthy of membership.
A good day to all.

Seems to me the C in IMCA stands for collectors. If it was a dealer
orginazation it would be the IMDA. When shopping on the internet for
meteorites or related material I know I can trust the high ethics of
members of the IMCA that any purchase made is of the highest standards and
quality. With my being a collector and not a dealer I guess I should buck
up some day and join the IMCA. I applaude Adam Hupe and the other deaers
taking massive cutting losses to provide small economical samples of some
awesome rare material to the small potatoe collectors like myself. Its not
in my budget yet but in order to have a sample of every main class and not
anomolus meteorite. My wish list is an Angrite, Lodranite, and Brachinite.
With a few exceptions I have samples over 20grams of nearly everything
else. I have been trying to collect both a slice and an individual of
every class. Some day on one of my daily walks, knowing what the stuff
looks like It would be nice

to make my own find. Have a great day! Steve

Thank you, Greg,

It is both a desert patina and fusion crust. The gray area is where the fusion
crust was etched very thin by the prevailing winds and sand over the 1,000 year
period it spent in Western Sahara. You can still observe contraction cracks in
the gray areas where the crust is so thin that you can see the matrix through
it. Most collectors do not realize that Lunar meteorites, for the most part,

Aug. 16, 2010

RELEASE : 10-68AR

NASA, Mavericks Launch Study of Earth's Atmosphere

MOFFETT FIELD, Calif. - NASA's Ames Research Center and Mavericks
Civilian Space Foundation, Moffett Field, Calif., today announced a
collaboration to develop a high-altitude high-velocity air sampling
system for NASA biological experiments.

Under the terms of a Space Act Agreement, Mavericks, in collaboration
with NASA scientists, will develop and operate airborne science
platforms to carry biological sampling devices and retrieve organisms,
such as microbes, algal spores, viruses, and fungi, and other evidence
of life from lower atmosphere to the upper atmosphere, or more than 78
miles above the surface of Earth. Mavericks will provide payload launch
capabilities, instrumentation on sounding rockets and research balloons,
and facilitate NASA flights on other space vehicles.

This partnership allows NASA to conduct Earth science in an exciting
new way and learn more about life, our planet and atmosphere in an
effective, rapid and cost-efficient manner, said Ames Center Director
S. Pete Worden.

Lynn Rothschild, an astrobiologist at NASA's Ames Research Center, will
lead the research efforts to study life in the upper portions of the
stratosphere and mesosphere, the middle layers of Earth's atmosphere
between five and 78 miles above the surface of Earth, the biology
present in clouds and the extent of airborne algal blooms. Rothschild
will design and test the aerobiology and astrobiology experimental
payloads and analyze returned samples.

In an era where we have powerful technologies to study the diversity of
life on Earth, the biology of Earth's atmosphere remains a relative
mystery, said Rothschild. We know more about life at the bottom of the
ocean. And, until we understand life in our own atmosphere, we cannot
understand the true limits for life on Earth and by extension, the
possibility for life in the atmosphere of other planets or moons, most
notably Venus.

This collaboration begins a new chapter in civilian partnership with
NASA to not only jointly attain the answer to a fundamental question in
biology, but also to re-inspire and re-engage our youth to demonstrate
their mastery of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)
education principles through participation, as part of our efforts to
drive STEM education through research, said Thomas Atchison, Mavericks
Civilian Space Foundation founder and chairperson.

Mavericks is a non-profit 501(c)3 educational foundation that combines
raising public awareness through the inspiration and productivity of
competitive challenges, with the leverage of social networking to
provide resources for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics
education and research programs that drive civilian space exploration.

The agreement is in accordance with the National Space Policy, under
which NASA will expand its partnerships with private industry, allowing
commercial companies to take a larger role in the exploration of space,
while NASA pursues activities the agency is uniquely qualified to do.

[meteorite-list] AD-New Taouz fall stones

2010-08-16 Thread Gary Fujihara
Aloha listoids,

At 3:00 am in the area of Taouz, 70km southeast of Erfoud, many people
witnessed a very bright bolide accompanied by a sonic boom and fragmentation
event. For lack of a better name, and with all due respect to my Moroccan
friends I am calling these Taouz fall stones, although the fall was not in the
Moroccan town of Taouz, and actually over the border in Algeria. Nomads
recovered the meteoritic material in Algeria and transported over the border to
Morocco, where dealers were able to acquire, and from whom I purchased them
August 9, 2010.

A limited supply is available, but I expect to offer more individuals and
slices in the future. These chondrites have very fresh, velvety black fusion
crusts, with a light matrix with some metal inclusions visible through the
crust, and magnetic susceptibility seems to indicate a LL type classification,
but that is only my opinion. Price is $8/g

http://bigkahuna-meteorites.com/Taouz.html

BTW, does anyone on the list know if a type sample of this fall was submitted
for analysis toward classification?

[meteorite-list] AD : The oldest rock on Earth : 4.28Ga !!!

2010-08-16 Thread Fabien Kuntz
Hello,

a last AD for now, few slices of a paraggneiss called faux-amphibolite, the
oldest rock known on Earth, with an age of 4.28 billions years old! A Hadean
crust relic (with possibly Late Heavy Bombardment evidence, based on Os
isotopes
arguments).

I obtained samples directly from the team published it in Science (26 SEPTEMBER
2008 VOL 321). An agreement on a trade (with meteorites of course), and when
they collected during 2009 field work new specimens of garnet-bearing
faux-amhibolite (4.28Ga), cummingtinite-rich faux-amphibolite (4.28Ga),
Banded Fe-Formation (3.8Ga), Fe-rich amphibolite (4.02Ga) and Fe-rich garnet
amphibolite (4.02Ga) for more studies... some was for me (with all field data)!

Few specimens sold in Ensisheim, I have here new slices of the garnet-rich
faux-amphibolite lithology available (and a link to download the full thesis)
:

http://www.wwmeteorites.com/Nuvvuagittuq.html

Other lithologies uppon request, include the 3.8Ga BIF (first evidence of
microbiological life on Earth, as other the other BIF of the same age around
the
world).

[meteorite-list] AD: New Website

2010-08-16 Thread Matthew Martin

Aloha Everyone,

Now that I'm finally happy with its appearance and have most of the
bugs worked out of it, I'm pleased to announce the launch of my new
site: www.meteoritetreasures.com

I've spent months preparing the site, loading inventory and writing
code and making alterations, but it's functional and attractive now, I
think. I've still got a lot of inventory to load, but please have a
look.

My inventory is composed primarily of meteorite jewelry. All of the
jewelry is made by my family...my mother, my wife, and myself. The
glass work has by far been the most difficult due to the different
cooling speeds of glass vs. nickel-iron meteorites...oftentimes
causing the glass to break or crack. We've been perfecting our
techniques and developing a new line of encapsulated meteorites.
These aren't the type that have a plastic pop-top that allows you to
insert material...I mean we hand-craft a sealed glass capsule with a
meteorite inside and fashioned it into a pendant. Most at the moment
are small campos and Sikhote-Alin's...I do have one Tatahouine that's
not on the site yet.

Our jewelry inventory includes pendants, earrings, sets, bookmarks,
keychains, martian jewelry, and tie-tacs.

Also available on the site in authentic (non-jewelry) form is Daule,
Fukang, Campo del Cielo,Uruacu, DaG 476, Karoonda, Buzzard Coulee
(w/copy of papers), Tatahouine, Suizhou, NWA 1929, Chergach, and more!

I also carry a line of supplies including Riker boxes and Silica Gel
Desiccant packs. Those who inquired about the extra small rikers,
just to let you know, I will be having them made in the very near
future and will announce to the list when they are available.

Of course I will offer a 10% discount off of all web prices upon
checkout--use coupon code metlist for your 10% discount off your
subtotal. Shipping is only $2.00 total for the US no matter what you
order and only $3.00 for international customers.

Thank you all for looking.

know of in this area, just need your mosquito spray.

Sounds like a great time, Count. I'm happy for you.
I have a hard time imagining anywhere near Las Vegas being pitch
dark
though. I could see the Vegas light dome from the White Mountains,
near
Bishop CA the last few nights. As I normally do from Red Rock Canyon
S.P.,
near Mojave, CA. And from the North Rim of The Canyon. And the other
side of
St George, Utah. I think the Vegas light dome must cover about the
same
square mileage as the state of Nevada. You think you could have a
word with

those casino folks? ;^)
Just teasing...

Hi Shawn and List,

It will be severe clear tonight as pilots say here in Nevada. We
got
lucky. I rounded up the two youngest grandsons, Michael 12, and
Vincent
10, and we'll get up at one o'clock and take the Jeep out into the
pitch
dark desert north of Las Vegas. We have lawn chairs, iced chocolate
and

coffee. Temp is forecasted to be 70 degrees Farenheit during the
observation period. 105 degrees after the sun comes up. The boys
will want

to hunt meteorites on the way back.

Best to all...and to those on the West Coast of America...good
viewing!

Re: [meteorite-list] Newcomers and the Meteorite world

2010-08-16 Thread Adam Hupe
Hi Mike in CO,

Magnetic susceptibility is a difficult question to answer. A CEREGE (CNRS),
Geophysics and Planetologyscientist from France flew out here to Laughlin, NV,
U.S.A. to conduct magnetic susceptibility studies on several of our planetary
pieces including NWA 5000. He spent hours plotting hundred of points on NWA
5000 to create a susceptibility map. All I can tell you is that numbers his
instruments measured were different for each and every point on the rock. I
guess we will have to wait for the results and magnetic map to be published.

If you are asking how attracted it is to a magnet, then my answer is as
follows:
NWA 5000 contains more metal than any rock from the Moon discovered, yet a
magnet will barley stick to it unless you are in direct contact with a piece of
elemental metal. I have magnets so powerful that the small amount of iron in
breakfast cereal is enough to make the pieces of cereal stick to them, same for
dry dog food. For the most part, planetary meteorites are not all that
attracted to standard magnets.

I recommend liberating a piece of a suspected planetary meteorite and then
testing it with a magnet therefore preserving the rest of the mass for future
study. A magnet will orient some of the dipoles into a new North South
direction making some future studies impossible.

Best Regards,

Adam

This is probably the 'dumb question of the year' but, is there any magnetic
susceptibility detectable on NWA 5000 or, for that matter any of your planetary
pieces? See, told you it was going to be a dumb question.

 Thank you, Greg,

It is both a desert patina and fusion crust. The gray area is where the fusion
crust was etched very thin by the prevailing winds and sand over the 1,000
year
period it spent in Western Sahara. You can still observe contraction cracks
in
the gray areas where the crust is so thin that you can see the matrix through
it. Most collectors do not realize that Lunar meteorites, for the most part,
have brown fusion crusts. A few Mare pieces have smooth black fusion crusts
and
a few Highlands have translucent green fusion crusts. This is one of many
clues
that we have a prospective Lunaite in front of us. You will never see a
wrinkly
Eucrite-like black fusion crust on a lunar meteorite.

 Very impressive.
Is that a fusion crust on NWA 5000 or desert varnish?

The question was presented. How many dealers have a personal collection?

My brother Greg and I started out as collectors and continue to this day. I
believe we have more planetary main masses than anybody in the world.

Here is an image of part of the Hupe Planetary Collection.

 http://themeteoritesite.com/HupeCollectionMainMasses.jpg

We have a few more planetary main masses that are not included in this image,
either because they were out on loan or too small.

 Enjoy and Best Regards,

 Aloha Everyone,

Now that I'm finally happy with its appearance and have most of the bugs
worked out of it, I'm pleased to announce the launch of my new site:
 www.meteoritetreasures.com

I've spent months preparing the site, loading inventory and writing code and
making alterations, but it's functional and attractive now, I think.  I've
still got a lot of inventory to load, but please have a look.

My inventory is composed primarily of meteorite jewelry.  All of the jewelry
is made by my family...my mother, my wife, and myself.  The glass work has
by far been the most difficult due to the different cooling speeds of glass
vs. nickel-iron meteorites...oftentimes causing the glass to break or crack.
We've been perfecting our techniques and developing a new line of
encapsulated meteorites.  These aren't the type that have a plastic pop-top
that allows you to insert material...I mean we hand-craft a sealed glass
capsule with a meteorite inside and fashioned it into a pendant.  Most at
the moment are small campos and Sikhote-Alin's...I do have one Tatahouine
that's not on the site yet.

Our jewelry inventory includes pendants, earrings, sets, bookmarks,
 keychains, martian jewelry, and tie-tacs.

Also available on the site in authentic (non-jewelry) form is Daule, Fukang,
Campo del Cielo,Uruacu, DaG 476, Karoonda, Buzzard Coulee (w/copy of
papers), Tatahouine, Suizhou, NWA 1929, Chergach, and more!

I also carry a line of supplies including Riker boxes and Silica Gel
Desiccant packs.  Those who inquired about the extra small rikers, just to
let you know, I will be having them made in the very near future and will
announce to the list when they are available.

Of course I will offer a 10% discount off of all web prices upon
checkout--use coupon code metlist for your 10% discount off your subtotal.
Shipping is only $2.00 total for the US no matter what you order and only
 $3.00 for international customers.

 Thank you all for looking.

 Aloha,

[meteorite-list] The emperor of angrites

2010-08-16 Thread Edwin Thompson

Hello fellow list members, there has been a lot of talk about the king of
angrites. So we decided to introduce you to the Galactic Emperor of all
angrites.
D'Orbigny the emperor of the meteorite galaxy; it is the biggest, baddest Sith
Rock in all the Galactic Empire. This main mass is 2.3 kilograms boasting
hundreds of moon like vesicles up to 2.5 centimeters in diameter where
beautiful augite crystals touch with a radiused termination against the surface
of the glass lining each vesicle. There are wondrous vugs by the hundreds that
are lined with beautifully perfect augite crystals reminiscent of superman's
crystal hideout in the arctic. This emperor of all angrites also displays the
largest Olivine crystal clast found in any angrite that measures 3 centimeters
in length. There are huge clasts of volcanic glass and round balls of this same
smokey tinted volcanic material. Within this mystical basaltic texture there
lies a strange flat plain of aligned crystals that terminates in the center of
only part of the stone almost as if this stone was cut with a light saber
billions of years ago and then healed itself again. The fusion
crust of D'Or is a thin gray colored melt with darker crust collected in the
regmaglymphs. We have held this wonderful Sith Lord for over ten years and we
continue to hold it back from the market in hopes that a museum will step
forward and acquire the emperor D'Orbigny.
Please visit our web site to experience the emperor of angrites but beware the
power of the dark Lord D'Or.

Beware the dark side and may the Farce be with you!
