2003-11-19 Thread Jose Campos

Yes, I agree Steve,

It's a case to say it - a la Star Wars: MAY THE SOURCE BE WITH YOU!

We know what a true meteorite is.

And we know that this is not a lunar meteorite.

But we cannot convince eBay, or these sellers
 otherwise.

That is the biggest problem I have with eBay meteorite
 auctions.

 These kind of things.

And there is really nothing we can do about it, other
 than know the source.

I wonder how many meteorwrongs are sold as meteorites
 at eBay?

And then there are those authentic meteorites sold by
unknowns being represented as a meteorite from such
and such a place, when in fact they might not be as
 represented.

 Know the source.

For us that is the only way.

But for those new collectors out there?

I fear that they don't have a clue.

Hello all, I agree with Anne. Looks like a piece of moonstone...which of course is not a real moon rock. I do not agree with Matteo "Write to this person in many..." It has been said a few times already on the list why harassing sellers is against ebay rules and illegal in most states (unless you have some scientific paperwork saying that very rock is not a real moon rock). I see nothing wrong with contacting the person, in a polite manner, and giving your opinion, but it seems that has already been done a couple of times. Filling the sellers e-mail box with spam is unlikely to "fix" anything. Pleaseshelf your self appointed meteorite police badges at the door. Mark Bostick www.meteoritearticles.com

Maybe it is a moonstone. It is a rather cheap mineral. The picture is very fuzzy, but the color is about right.
Moon Rock, Moonstone?? He might not know the difference.
