Re: [meteorite-list] Lest You Forget
This seems close to touching on my plan: drill holes in meteorite specimens and epoxy in place a plutonium pacemaker battery and voice chip which, every 5 second, declares aloud the name of the meteorite (and possibly fall date or peterological type-- I haven't worked out all the details yet.) I need to get to work on that patent application... __ Visit the Archives at http://www.meteoritecentral.com/mailing-list-archives.html Meteorite-list mailing list Meteorite-list@meteoritecentral.com http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list
Re: [meteorite-list] Lest You Forget
Thank you John, for posting the superb pictures. Very interesting to see these old specimens and how they were identified. I, for one, would be interested in what medium, or technique, was used to mark them and if it was permanent. Kind of looks like it lasts, as these may have been labeled over a hundred and twenty five years ago. I think one of the old methods was to polish, write the name in paraffin, etch, then remove the paraffin.
