Steve,

Absolutely! - know the source, but also  - trust the source.

Personally I always advise 'Newbie's' to make sure a seller is a member
of the 'IMCA' (since it's about the only safeguard most newcomers have,
without knowing the market place very well).

... but it is amazing how many good reliable sellers there are, who are
actually still NOT members of the IMCA, (their choice obviously, but it
must loose them business!?).

And when in doubt...

Get specimens only from reputable dealers, who can
back up their claims with adequate testing.

This message must be presented to a gullible public
as, or if, they become interested in collecting
meteorites.
