[Mingw-w64-public] Latest mingw-w64-install broken on all Window versions
The latest mingw-w64-install program is broken on all Window versions ( Vista, 7, 8.1 ) in which I tried to use it. Attempting to install any of the releases listed always gives a ERROR Res message box and no files, except for ones at the top level, get installed. Uninstalling from Programs and Features works fine but no mingw-64 release can be installed with the program. I searched the Internet about this and found a number of hits going back to 2014 about this, implying it was fixed, but maybe the latest release has broken it again. Since the install is totally broken for now, where do I go to manually download and install the releases I want ? If you want posix threads and SEH exceptions, one possibility for the latest and greatest would be the compressed file: x86_64-5.1.0-release-posix-seh-rt_v4-rev0.7z downloadable from the sourceforge folder with url: http://sourceforge.net/projects/mingw-w64/files/Toolchains%20targetting%20Win64/Personal%20Builds/mingw-builds/5.1.0/threads-posix/seh/ I did the equivalent back in November for the 4.9.2 version. (Note, I haven't actually used the 5.1.0 version, but I assume that it works.) There are other possibilities (different builds, different configuration choices): see the sourceforge folder: http://sourceforge.net/projects/mingw-w64/files/Toolchains%20targetting%20Win64/Personal%20Builds/ You could follow, for example, the mingw-builds link there and pick your desired configuration / version as you navigate down to the downloadable file. Happy 64-bit g++ Hacking! The problem is that the install program lists a release ( 4.9.3 ) that really does not exist yet. When I attempted to install that release the error message of my OP occurs. Installing releases that actually exist works.
