Host1.no will let you run OpenBSD in a VM. They accept bitcoins and have several "sensitive" clients (one is very well-known). Host1 also have a "cloud" platform called cloud1.no, it runs on rather old Xen, but thanks to great efforts of Mike B, OpenBSD works fine there as well. Installation is not straightforward, though, but it is doable... Host1 will also let you rent a dedicated box, if you need it. Or you could get a cheap 55 EUR dedicated box at Blix (https://www.blix.com/servers), who is also great, but Blix won't accept BTC AFAIC. Host1 and Blix are based in Norway.
Re: Recommendation on OpenBSD host
Linode works pretty well for me; I understand that some have EC2 working as well, but I’ve not taken the time to try that. There area a couple of different ways, as well, with Linode to create base images and speed new server deployments. I personally store my base images off-line and copy up when I spin up a new VM. The offer quite a bit of flexibility, and their virtual environment is all KVM-based now (only legacy VMs are using Xen anymore). But plan for your own redundancy, backups, etc. This is true with any provider… But Linode, in particular, doesn’t support live migrations and such—so if they have server issues and your VM is on that server, you’re environment would be down otherwise. Re: Recommendation on OpenBSD host
I'm happy to discover some new hosting possibilities but I'm kinda surprised of the pricing of those offers. So even though it's not in Romania or Iceland, I would suggest having a look at https://www.netcup.de which ist hosted in Germany. Their offer is, imho, very fair, the customer service is great and I've managed to install OpenBSD 6.0 on their servers. Admittedly, they lack the option to pay with cryptocoins but I still think it's an option to consider if you can manage without the cryptocurrency. Laurent

I recommend CloudSigma with boxes in Switzerland. https://www.cloudsigma.com/locations/ I do recommend even with referral link if you do not mind. https://zrh.cloudsigma.com/ui/?affid=apedziwilk02104
Re: Recommendation on OpenBSD host
You could check if www.1984.is supports OpenBSD. You should be aware that most traffic to and from Iceland passes throught the UK, by the way. On Wed, Jul 26, 2017 at 3:01 AM,wrote: > Hey list. Vultr/Linode I already tested and are good choices. DigitalOcean - If you used disk encryption, they corrupt your disk 2017-07-25 22:01 GMT-03:00: > Hey list. Recommendation on OpenBSD host
Hey list. I need a server to host a very simple website. I've been looking for a OpenBSD host that offers 'full' control over the machine though SSH. Anyone has recommendations? My needs: simple low traffic httpd(8) website (no javascript), even a Core2Duo, 2GB of RAM and a HDD with space to install base system (without Xenocara, of course) would be enough. I can't do it on some random laptop because I need it to be anonymous (it will have sensitive journalistic information[*]). Ideally that accept cryptocoins (dashcoin or plain bitcoin) and from a country like Romania or Iceland, because of their historic free-speech protection (again, *ideally*). I see the people from Libreboot have a project to build a host, but I don't think they support OpenBSD yet and I think they never will... because of Stallmanism BS ("closed firmware == blob"). Regards. ps. Yes, I've searched the marc.info archive. ps2. please don't reply directly to this mail, but to the list. [*] nothing illegal, btw, it will just possibly make some political people very angry.
