BBC Weather - App of the Month August 2013
01-08-2013 09:48 AM BST

Body:
The BBC weather app is a recent addition to the app market. With the current
flourish of nice weather the app is a nice addition to your Smartphone.
Information about the weather type, temperature, five day forecast is neatly
displayed and easy to navigate allowing you to decide if you need your suntan
lotion or umbrella.

Where to get it
Download the BBC Weather app from the iTunes App Store for Free -
Download the BBC Weather app from the Google Play Store for Free -

What’s so great about the BBC Weather app?
The BBC Weather app is very intuitive to use. All of the information you need
is organised in a way that is both pleasing to the eye and also easily
navigated with both VoiceOver and Talkback. You are able to store a number of
different locations and quickly switch between them in order to find out what
the weather is like almost anywhere in the world. The app allows you to
customise the information it reads including the temperature in either degrees
Celsius or Fahrenheit and wind speed in either MPH or KMH.

User Comments
Emma, an iOS user has recently started using the BBC Weather App
“When the BBC Weather app was released recently, it went straight to the top of
the charts. This was partly because the iPhone's native weather app, which
takes its information from Yahoo, is pretty inaccurate - when time allowed, I
always went to the BBC Weather website for a second opinion. But it happened
too because the BBC Weather app is excellent in its own right and it is fully
accessible for Voiceover users”.

“In the iPhone's native app, you have to add your location and information is
only accurate to city. Internet connection permitting, the BBC Weather app
figures out where you are and automatically serves up the forecast for that
area. You can then add any other places in the UK or the world that you want to
keep tabs on.

It gives you wind speed, the pollen count and whether the day will be generally
sunny or rain-soaked. And, like in the native app, you can unfold an hourly
forecast”.

Android user Dee has also recently swapped to the BBC Weather App.
“As an Android user, who loves to check the weather for an instant ‘what should
I wear today’ report, I have always found the installed AccuWeather app to be
most accurate and completely user friendly in comparison to other weather apps”.

“The innovative BBC Weather App is appealing on first impression because of its
key content and climate conditions, simultaneously located on just one page.
Again, well sited and accessible, using clear, large fonts, makes this
trouble-free site easy to navigate”.

“Alongside the Android app, its accuracy, seems once again very precise and can
be updated in seconds. Unlike Accuweather, the BBC app has the facility to
search by post code, district or current position and save such a location.
Given that it is a somewhat new app, it may just have the edge over the Android
app, due to its ‘search and save any location’ feature and the ease of having
all the info on one page”.

Got a suggestion?
We want to hear from you, our users. Which apps and websites should we be
writing about on the TechKnowMore blog? Is there an app you can no longer live
without? What website is at the top of your favourites list?

Drop us an email on digitalacc...@rnib.org.uk to let us know, and your
favourite service could be featured in the very near future!

2013-08-03 Thread Harish

Hi

There are 2 types of small sized USB connector found on phones / tabs they
are called mini and micro USB. Firstly you need to know the correct USB port
on your device and get appropriate USB keyboard.

This is available at Saksham from where I had bought it.
I had checked all the commandswhich was given in my earlier post and they
worked.

Harish.

At one level, I found the program simple, but there are a few

Note Everything. I tried swiping up and down to change the reading

entire edit box. How do I address the issue?
My other question is regarding talkback and the announcement of caller
ID. How do I make talkback read caller information in individual
digits rather than the
entire number? What I want is for example, in case I get a call from
123456 I would like talkback to read it as 1 2 3 4 5 6.
And to the moderators' attention, I still am not getting responses to
my mail on my inbox, each time I have to check the mail archives to
read the responses. But I am getting other mails from the list. Kindly
guide me with regard to this issue as well, if there is any changes in
settings that I have to make so that the problem would go away.
