Hello friends.
Today, I had a chat with one of the Xolo executives. I pointed out to
him that a lot of visually challenged users are using this particular
model of the phone and it would be worthwhile to keep this in mind and
that they should improve the accessibility of the dialer and the media
player apps built into the phone. He was quite receptive to the
suggestion and told me that the next update of the firmware will
accommodate the concerns. I would urge the users of this phone to
contact Xolo through the XoloCare app and put forward our concerns
regarding accessibility. The more the message reach, the greater will
be the impact. We should keep at Xolo for the Android version update
as well, as Android 4.3 promises a lot more in terms of improvements
in accessibility features.

Friends

Good tips of course. There is a shade application from Google which can
cut out the brightness and is accessible by Talkback.

All in all, the results does not make a dramatic gain in battery time.
Because of speech, the usability of the battery drops sharply and often
outdoors it is not possible to charge the phone.

There is one solution, which comes handy. There is a product generically
called a Battery bank. This is available from many vendors and of
different power rating. This can charge various types of devices including
even the old Symbian Nokia phones, Android phones and tabs, IOS devices
like Iphones, Ipod etc and even laptops and your MP3 players.
Do ensure while purchasing it that you are getting the right type of
connectors which this Battery Bank can charge.

This has to be charged with either its own charger or by any USB port. Now
a days, most phones are chargeable with USB port and hence you can use the
same charger to charge both the phone and the Battery bank.

This is easily available in any mobile outlet. This price is upwards of
Rs. 500 depending on the battery rating and brands. Just sharing this info
in case you were not aware of it.

Today we are discussing a very important thing which one seeks in a
smartphone. One of the worst thing about smartphones is the battery
backup, which is very less as compared to backup provided by feature
phones . I know there are lots of features provided by a smartphone;
but, still we people require a good battery backup. The tips i have
listed below is applicable for all android smartphones. Mostly all the
Micromax canvas smartphones comes with a battery capacity of 2000mAh
which is quite for smartphones. Recently they launched Canvas 4 which
also have a low battery capacity of 2000mAh .
Android Smartphones Battery Backup
I personally think that MMX should increase the battery capacity of
their smartphones . We people like to play games , listen to music all
the time so we require a good battery backup . If i consider our Indian
youth , We usually use our phone all the time in accessing internet such
as Facebook , twitter , watch videos online so for these kind of
activities 2000mAh battery capacity is bit low.

Why Micromax Smartphones Provide Low battery Backup ?
Well, mostly all the android phones face this issue , not an exception
with Micromax .The only thing rolling in my mind regarding battery
backup is that Micromax phones has a big screen display which consumes
more battery . Today i will reveal lots of tips through which you can
increase battery life of your smartphone .

Tips to Increase Battery backup of Micromax Android Smartphones
1.Internet Consumes battery a lot . Lots of applications requires
internet running all the time . Either you can turn the background
internet for all those application or you can turn internet connection
off when not in use . By following this tip you will notice your phone
giving a good backup .
2.Brightness consumes more battery . If you have set the brightness
level to max , it will eat up the battery fast. So better switch to
automatic brightness or set it to minimum when you're using your phone
indoor .
3.Close all unwanted apps . If you minimize the apps they will keep
running in the background .
4.Turn Wifi , GPS, Bluetooth off when not in use .
5.There are lots of apps available which claims to increase the battery
backup of your smartphone . Don't install them , just get a task killer
and close all background running applications .
6.Don't play heavy games (Like GTA 3, NFS , etc ) too much .
7.Disable Sync .
8.Don't set Live Wallpapers / animated screensavers .
9.Turn off vibration .
10.Keep the screen timeout short (Normal 15 seconds) .
11.Reduce the number of shortcuts on the Home screen.

Just follow the above methods mentioned above you will surely notice
your phone's battery providing a good backup . If you think we have
missed any important one , kindly share via the comment box .
Found these tips useful ?

Unified Access Services Licences (UAS).
MTS was only bidder for the CDMA spectrum (800 Mhz band) in the March
2013 spectrum auctions and won spectrum to operate in 8 circles – Delhi,
Kolkata, Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh (West)
West Bengal out of total 22 circles for Rs 3,639 crore. The company
already had its operations running in Rajasthan service area.

Nook - App of the Month for October 2013
30-09-2013 01:00 PM BST

Body:
Nook is an eBook reader made by Barnes Noble. In addition to physical
eReaders, they also make apps that allow you to read your content on other devices
such as smartphones. This month we reviewed their Android app.

Where to get it
Download Nook from the Google Play Store

User comments
We heard from Steve Nutt...

The Nook app for Android is a real milestone in accessibility to books for
the blind and visually impaired.

The first time you run the app, it will present a screen asking you to
either log into your Nook account, or create one. A Nook account is free, so if
you don't have one, create a new account. If you do, sign in.

Once you have signed in, if you have an existing account, all your books
will be displayed from your Nook library in the cloud. To download a book,
simply double tap it and the book will then be downloaded and opened. If you
have created an account for the first time, some free books and some samples of
books you can buy will be in your library. The samples are periodically
updated. You can open any of these freebies or sample books in the same way.

Also on this library screen, you can filter the books by only books on the
device, books in the cloud or all books. You can also sort by Author, Recently
Read, etc.

Assuming you have a book open, you can do one of two things. You can either explore
the screen with your finger, at which point you will get a line of text read to you as
you touch it. If you use this method, you can use Talkback gestures to find out spellings
of words, etc. The second alternative however is to tap a checkbox near the top lefthand
corner of the screen, which says Reading Unchecked. However, if you tick this
box, automatic reading will start and continue until you stop it. Stopping auto reading
is simply done by touching the screen. If auto reading is stopped, you can flick to
previous or next page with a two finger left / right gesture. Left for next, right for
previous page.

Next to the Reading check box is a bookmarks checkbox, which again is
unchecked. Check this and you can move to bookmarks or add them.

If you tap the More Options button near the top right, you will reach
settings, contents, etc. All of these things are accessible, including moving
to any chapter in the contents, any page number, etc.

You can also adjust font size, though I don't know the effect of this as I
am totally blind. I tend to set the font to the smallest size, as I get the
most on a page.

Finally, you can also side load books. That is to say if you have your own
books in .epub format, even if they were not purchased from Nook, you can load
them onto your phone and read them in the Nook app.

When you close the app, your position will be remembered. If you sync your
library before you close the app, your position will be remembered across more
than one device which is great for me, as I have an Android phone and tablet.

In conclusion then, I cannot fault this app at all. It is completely accessible
and I congratulate Barnes Noble for doing a fine job. I only hope that Amazon
will learn from it when it comes to the Kindle app, which presently is inaccessible
on Android.

Got a suggestion?
We want to hear from you, our users. Which apps and websites should we be
writing about on the TechKnowMore blog? Is there an app you can no longer live
without? What website is at the top of your favourites list? Drop us an email
on digitalacc...@rnib.org.uk to let us know, and your favourite service could
be featured in the very near future!

[Mobile.AI] Gionee Elife E6 announced in India for Rs 22,999

2013-10-04 Thread Kannan. C

Gionee Elife E6 announced in India for Rs 22,999
by Ritij Khurana on October 3, 2013 9:29 pm | Mobile Phones 1 Comment
Chinese smartphone manufacturer Gionee has finally launched its new
flagship smartphone Elife E6. The device was globally launched a few
months ago and was pre launched in India few days back on some online
stores for Rs 22,165. However, presently you need to pay Rs 22,999 to
lay your hands onto this. While the device looked attractive at the
first glance, we decided to check out the features and specifications in
detail.

Gionee-Elife-E6
Here is all what it has for you-
▪Display- 5-inch OGS(One-Glass-Solution) (1080×1920 pixels) AMOLED display
▪Chipset, Processor and RAM- 1.5GHz quad-core MediaTek processor built
on ARM Cortex A7 architecture, 2GB of RAM

▪Memory- 32GB internal storage with no slot for microSD card
▪Camera-13-megapixel rear camera with auto focus, LED flash and a second
generation BSI sensor, 5-megapixel front facing camera
▪Operating System-Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with Amigo UI modifications by
Gionee

▪Connectivity- Wi-Fi/GPS/Bluetooth 4.0/FM radio
▪Battery- Non-removable 2020mAh Battery
▪Weight and Thickness-,128 grams, 6.18mm
The display and the rest of the body give the phone a premium look. The
powerful processor and Gionee’s modifications to the operating system
complements this further. After these modifications, the operating
system looks very close to Apple’s iOS rather than Google’s Android
platform. Similarly, for features like camera quality and powerful
battery backup, it gets full marks.
The device runs Heartbeat Synchronizing technology for reduction of
power consumption by synchronously waking up apps every ten minutes.
It also sports features like gestures control so that a user can take a
call by directly raising the phone up to their ears. It recognizes many
more such gestures.
Despite all its premium looks and features, the device is selling at a
discount to many known counterparts. Perhaps this makes it’s even
stronger one. Don’t miss out to check it in person.

Re: [Mobile.AI] best offer on google naksess at flipkart...

2013-10-04 Thread Mahesh S. Panicker
I have been considering buying a tab for my workplace uses as it is
easier to carry it rather than a laptop, and the netbook has already
become yesterday's product. And If I buy a tab, I want to opt for the
Google Nexus itself. So thanks a lot for posting this. I have a few
questions though. How accessible it is with office products?
Basically, I have a lot of work on MS Word and PDF related stuff. Are
there accessible apps that can read and edit word and pdf documents?
There other question is how good is an Android tab as a reader? I use
Kurzweil1000 as my primary reader and also use Jaws. In what format
can I access my .kes files on an Android tab? How customizable is the
reading experience? Can we set bookmarks and stuff? Is it possible to
pause and resume reading on a tab? I am OK with touchscreen typing on
an Android phone, but can I use a Bluetooth keyboard on an Android
tab? Or Is it better to stick to the yesterday's product for now?

Re: [Mobile.AI] best offer on google naksess at flipkart...

2013-10-04 Thread Aruni sharma
Hi, You can do a bit of editing of word documents through google drive
on android. But as such office products are inaccessible for the time-being.
As far as PDF files are concerned, moon reader pro i.e. the paid version
can read a number of formats including pdf, but perhaps navigation by
character word etc won't be that good.
If you are really interested in a tablet, better consider iPad or iPad
mini with 3g |wi-fi.
