Re: [Mobile.AI] can one use touchscreen phone effectively at crowdedplaces?
I have one more suggestion, on Android, we may use voice command feature. e.g. just tap on the voice search and say call rahul kelapure and the phone obliges. Re: [Mobile.AI] How can I lock my Android phone?
Hi Vikas, Thanks for your quick response, but I'm strange to the term 'encrypt' used by you. What does it mean? I believe from you that locking the phone will not harm the device and it can be considered as a primary option of security. Sorry for my ignorance and please clarify this doubt too. On 7/24/14, Vikas Kapoor dl.vi...@gmail.com wrote: You can activate the same feature of locking your screen by going into security and change the way you unlock your phone, it could be a password, a PIN, a special gesture or even face recognition. Hi, 1. Why can't you use an earphone to avoid the croud?? 2. Practice makes everything perfect! It is not at all a difficult task to use the phone with a single hand! Even I do it!!! Above all, as someone rightly raised, how long will you use the outdated technology? You are doing a postmortem on a burried body... Which would repell others from migrating to Android. Re: [Mobile.AI] can one use touchscreen phone effectively at crowdedplaces?
Rahul, for using voice feature, your phone must be connected to the internet. And here the problem will persist again because this feature needs noise free environment to produce effective results. I use these feature to write text messages, but all the time internet connection is not reliable though I am using 3g service. By the way, the debate is not limited to which platform is better, but at the time of such urgencies, whether can u use your touchscreen phone effectively? Re: [Mobile.AI] How can I lock my Android phone?
Yes you are right, screen lock is just a primary way of securing your device against misuse. When you encrypt your phone, you would then require to enter a numeric PIN each time you switch on your phone. That appears to be more secured but certainly has some disadvantages: for example, You cannot decrypt your phone once it has been encrypted except restoring it to factory state, in which you might lose some of your data. Another thing is that once you encrypt your phone, the device may perform a little slow. Moreover, encrypting a device might take an hour or so. - Original Message - From: Mujeeb Rahman m4mujeebrah...@gmail.com To: Dedicated AccessIndia list for discussing accessibility of mobile phonesand Tabs. mobile.accessindia@accessindia.org.in Sent: Friday, July 25, 2014 1:52 PM Subject: Re: [Mobile.AI] How can I lock my Android phone? Re: [Mobile.AI] can one use touchscreen phone effectively atcrowdedplaces?
Itt is not at all true that we Indians do not want to learn new things. It is also not true that we want to stick to old things. Those who are arguing in this way should remember that they are also Indians. Those who have mastered the new Android phones have gone far ahead and are not in a mood to understand that others are facing some genuin problems. I am trying my best to learn my Moto x phone but I am not getting proper training. Instead of criticizing others, the members who have mastered the Android phones should try to help others. My problem is that on the android phone, things keep moving and they have no fixed places. for example, it becomes very difficult to locate the More Options button. Unless your queries are solved, you cannot learn this phone on your own. further, many of the buttons are not labled. at least Android should have taken care of this point. Professor Shyam M. Hi Satguru, I have changed the subject and we can discuss the matter here in this thread. I am using android moto g for quite some time now. The most difficulty I have faced with the device is that I am totally handicapped using my touchscreen phone at crowded places, such as at railway station, market, or if I am walking on the road. Suppose, if I am waiting for someone at railway station or at some busy streat, first of all I have to hold the phone with both hands, then have to swipe number of times to get the contact of person to whom I want to call. It seems very difficult specially when I am holding some luggage etc in my hand. Even to dial the number you have to find out the digit at the screen, than lift your finger, if some digit is entered wrongly, find the button to delete. More over sending text messages under these circumstances is very very difficult. Similar is the story when I am walking on the road and I just want to talk to somebody or to text anyperson, I will have to stand somewhere, find the number and then call or sms. Over all it is very cumbersome to use touchscreen device during such circumstances. My nokia n79 became malfunctioned last week, due to these problems which I faced, I got my nokia repaired, and I am very very happy with my Symbian. So my question is that how do you people deal with your touchscreen phone at such places? is there any difference between android and iPhone

[Mobile.AI] accessible reading app with granularity options for moto G
Dear All, here i am back with yet another query regarding accessible reading app. actually, i have come across a few apps from this list itself and they are by and large accessible. the most suitable for me thus far has been @voice aloud reader. beside that, i have the bookshare app and so on. but my concern is neither the bookshare app nor @voice aloud reader allows to read word by word or character by character. as far as bookshare app Go Read is concerned, i am so far unable to find ways to read by sentences or by lines. it only reads paragraphs by paragraphs. so, my question is, how to read a book in go read with granularity options, or, is it actually possible to do so? for the books there are in DESI format. i have installed accessible editor but how to read .doc files through this? i think i have asked much in it. still, i do look forward to be given some directions in this regard. warm greetings, Anirban Mukherjee Search for previous postings at: http://www.mail-archive.com/mobile.accessindia@accessindia.org.in ___ Mobile.accessindia mailing list Mobile.accessindia@accessindia.org.in http://accessindia.org.in/mailman/listinfo/mobile.accessindia_accessindia.org.in to post send mail to: mobile.accessindia@accessindia.org.in Disclaimer: 1.
