Hi Miguel,

The only Wii support I know of is as part of Unity3D:

 http://unity3d.com/unity/features/wii-publishing

I don't know what Unity3D for Wii costs.

We also offer Mono for the Wii:

 http://mono-project.com/Mono:Wii
yep I know (please see my other post), but the site just mention the
port, and ask to send a reques/ask to Novell, I do it, but not answer,
what is the price?, features?, trial or have to buy it inmidiatly?, and
so on...

There is some free mono version for Andrioid or Wii?, if not, how much
do they cost?

BTW, what is the mono android/wii state?, access to GUI things, etc..?

Thanks

Mono should be buildable from source for Android, though I don't know
how complicated or involved the process is. You might try following:

   http://www.koushikdutta.com/search/label/Mono

I know that, sadly the repo instructions on the blow are not working,
now it have other permissions and there is a entry telling that mono for

Re: [Mono-dev] Mono C# Serial Port problem

2009-08-21 Thread buhochil...@gmail.com
Hi Shawn:

We are working heavily with serial ports on mono linux here at my Univ.
and so far all works kind of ok doing read/write calls , but now we
really need the incoming data event, but also be able to write to the
serial port, so we can't do threading loops makings reads on the port
becouse that blocks the writing, so I wonder if you are still willing to
share your serial port re-implementation to the mono project or at least
help me to implement the incoming data event?

in advance, thank you very much...

[Mono-dev] current serialport status..

2009-07-12 Thread buhochil...@gmail.com
Hi,

I wonder what is the serialport current status?, we at monoBOTICS
(http://www.monobotics.ic.uach.cl) use intensely that component in our
project without much problems till now. Now we have a 1mps speed and the
incoming data events and we start to have some issues with it, so I
wonder what is the actual current state of the serialport class on
mono/linux...

I think that some time ago I read a post from one of the Unity guys
mention something about that they complete that class and they was going
to bright those changes/updates back to the mono sources, but it seems
that nothing about it happend?

Actually people do a lot more with Unity than just games. We have a

We'd love to have one, but it's a large and complex thing to
implement, so I don't see it happening any time soon.

Two summers ago, the amazing Alan McGovern created LunarEclipse a
Silverlight designer and last summer Manuel CerĂ³n continued the work
 on it.

The designer at the time was mostly focused on the Silverlight 1.1
subset since we developed this on Linux and we did not have 2.0
 available at the time.

The code has not been updated for a while, so chances are, some bits
needs to be updated to work again.

The vision in general was that LunarEclipse should provide an engine
that could be used within a WebBrowser, so that the actual design
happened in the browser. This means that we could get contributions
from Mac (and on day even Windows developers), not only Linux developers.

It would be a fun summer project for a motivated hacker.
don't even know where to download it, I have the moonlight sources from
svn, where can I see the code?

Hi guys,

I want to announce an unofficial support for mono/monodevelop packages
for Fedora 10, currently those packages are under review on bugzilla,
but I can tell you that are currently working just fine on several
machines here at my Univ.

Good things included are:

Monodevelop 2.0 final release.
Mono 2.4 release
Monodevelop Integrated GDB debugger addin
Monodevelop Integrated MDB debugger addin
Mono and Monodevelop dependencies updated for the mono stack...

We also have the database integration addin for monodevelop and
java/ikvm and vala support to if someone need it (currently not in the
repo).

So, just copy the uach.repo file to you repo directory (usually
/etc/yum.repos.d) and execute on a terminal:

yum install mono-* monodevelop* --enablerepo=ic-uach,ic-uach-updates

Hope that this help...

Sure. So if you have a problem compiling mono itself and the rpm guys
are getting mono itself to compile on the platform you're interested in,
you should take a look at what they're doing. You can see what sequence
of commands they're using to compike, what configure options they're
giving, and what patches they're applying. Then you can make sure you
don't apply whatever it is that's causing mono-debugger to malfunction
while finding out how they are able to build.

I'm not doing that at all. I'm telling you -- if you have a problem
compiling the mono package on Fedora; there's a repeatable recipe for
getting mono to compile on Fedora in existence. Comparing it to what
you're doing will help you find out what you're missing.

sorry if I sound to hard, but honestly I'm pretty tired about the poor
support of fedora for the mono things, I also offer me and my Univ help
to some of the koji packages guys, but they don't take it...
BTW, if you get this to work, the monodevelop packager in Fedora would
likely be interested in a bug report. If the problem is a configure
switch to the mono build, you can email me and I'll get it in.

And yeap I also try to build just MD with the debbuger addins enable

So, currently I don't know what else to do to get this thing to work on
Fedora 10!!!, compiling just MD work with installed mono RPM's but the
debugger don't work, compiling also mono from sources also crash (as in
last post it seems that the problem is not specific to the missing
mscorlib, compiling mono from sources is making mono runtime to crash

When you say Have you built the 2.0 version of MD? IIRC, build MD IIRC?

what can I do??

[Mono-dev] mono/MD and koji packages

2009-03-30 Thread buhochil...@gmail.com
Hi guys:

I find packages for mono and MD for fedora 11 on the koji site, in fact
the MD rpm is very updated and work pretty well on fedora 10, my
question is how can we help to keep mono/MD updated for current stable
fedora release and also be able to have the integrated debugger...I
can't find any way to subscribe to the koji project...

Here at the Univ, we are very bigs fans of fedora and we work with
redhat/fedora since redhat 5.0, but currently a numbers of guys are
pushing to change to opensuse due to the better mono/MD support, so, to
keep using fedora we need a way to keep mono/MD updated on our machines,
it seems that koji is the way, but some packages are missing like the
debugger ones...

Working with a ffmpeg wrrapper from c#, I'm facing a very dificult
situation related to some ffmpeg structures that have function pointer

__icall_wrapper_mono_delegate_to_ftnptr (object) kind of errors,
changing the delegate members to just IntPtr solve the issue in some

The thing is that is not easy to reproduce this problem or even make a
small test case to allow you to reproduce the situation, so I don't
know what type of info I can give you to see if there is a bug somewhere
(full stack trace?, a small piece of the wrapper? in that case the
ffmpeg version on oyu system have to match some stuff to be a valid test
of the wrapper..., other way?)

So please let me know

P.S: I don't want to cover the problems in more detail before know what
infor or test cases do you need...
P.S2: This is using mono-1.9 and 2.2 on fedora 8 kernel 2-6-24 or fedora

Re: [Mono-dev] How do I develop mono/C# applications for the AppleiPhone?

2009-02-27 Thread buhochil...@gmail.com
Mariner, David wrote:
 Hi Daniel,

Firstly, I'll only talk about the authorized development scene for the
device. If you don't already know or can't find out about alternate
methods, then you'll probably have little success with them if I pointed
 you in their direction.

In my case, I'm interest in all directions, so please point me in that
direction, where do I start?
Firstly you're going to need to get a mac to dev on. An intel Mini with
10.5 is minimum requirements for the iPhone toolchain, but will do the
job fine. Spring for some extra RAM, but google around for DIY upgrade,
don't pay the Apple tax on it.

Next you're going to need ADC membership (which is free), and then sign
up to the iPhone dev program (also free) which will let you download the
toolchain (including emulator) but then you'll need to pay over $99 for
a certificate to let you run any apps you develop on the device.

Then you're all set to develop and deploy to the iPhone in general.

If you're wanting to start hacking around in mono on the device, the
first thing to do would be to check out the source from the SVN server,
and look at ~/mono/build-mono.sh. This is what will enable you to
cross-compile using the apple toolchain. From then on you're into
exposing APIs, working out a nice productive development / deployment
toolchain and all that good stuff.

Also, bear in mind that the combination of the Apple developer agreement
and Novell's license terms for mono means that if you're going to be a
commercial developer, you'll need to speak to Novell regarding a
commercial license. But IANAL, so take professional advice as necessary.

Or you can go for the Unity option. You'll still need the mac and the
$99 certificate from Apple, but if you want to dev in c# on the iPhone,
it's really going to be your quickest route to deployment. One of the
best things about it is that you can do extremely rapid code-build-test
cycles...in the order of about 3 seconds until you're seeing the results
 of your changes.

I know that it seems like a large outlay, but if you're seriously
looking to develop any game-style applications and you want to avoid a
whole world of pain then I'd really recommend the Unity route. If you're
more in it for the hacker culture aspect of cool toys, or if you want
to do applications rather than games then try without it first.

Once you've got the mac setup, you can always evaluate the 30 day trial
of Unity to see how you get on with it as an environment.

 Hope this helps,

 Dave

P.S. In the interest of full disclosure, my wife works at Unity. But
that doesn't change the fact that it's the easiest route to getting c#
 on an iPhone ;-)

Subject: [Mono-dev] How do I develop mono/C# applications for the
 AppleiPhone?

I love the iphone. I recently got one (my first apple computer if you
think about it). Now, I would like to develop my own applications for
the iphone, but I do not know where to start. I have done an internet
search and found stuff, but there is nothing that can get a C# developer
who is used to windows to use and develop iphone apps on a Mac in C#.

What would be the minimum requirements for a computer to develop iphone
applications with? Will a Mac Mini with Intel running Mac OS X 10.5
Leopard suffice? How much RAM and Hard Disk space do I need?

I would rather write these iphone apps in C# than Objective-C. This is
where Mono comes in mind. I believe you can use static compilation in
Mono using AOT compilation and a tool called Linker.

I've seen a tool from unity3d, but that tool is expensive. After
shelling out for the iphone, a mac mini, the apple developer program, i
don't think there will be much left. Unity Indie for $200 and the
iPhone Publishing Basic for $400 for a total of $600.

So, what does one need to build applications for the iphone in C#?
What tools must I install on the Mac (the iphone SDK and Mono of course)
to do this? What steps must I take to build these apps?

 Thanks,
 Daniel

mono-12.6 with that version all work like a charm..
Based on the rpm version for gtk-sharp2, it looks like the latest
 snapshot is for r100145 though.

[Mono-dev] Strange GdkSharp.PixbufDestroyNotifyWrapper error..

2008-05-30 Thread buhochil...@gmail.com
Hi guys:

I have a simple code in a gtk window that use a pixbuf to put some image
in a widget that inherit from DrawingArea, then at some point I call to
the SetSizeRequest function and I get a really weird
InvalidProgramException..the widget is associate internally to the
OnExposeEvent, the handler is reached but then when I call to function
that update a internal Pixbuf (still not doing nothing with the widget,
just the function that update de pixbuf that is used later in the
handler to update the draw of the drawingarea) the app crash with a:

ExcObject: System.InvalidProgramException: Invalid IL code in (wrapper
native-to-managed) GdkSharp.PixbufDestroyNotifyWrapper:NativeCallback
(intptr,intptr): IL_0030: call 0x0006
  at (wrapper managed-to-native)
System.Object:__icall_wrapper_mono_delegate_to_ftnptr (object)
 at (wrapper managed-to-native) Gdk.Pixbuf:gdk_pixbuf_new_from_data
(byte[],int,bool,int,int,int,int,GdkSharp.PixbufDestroyNotifyNative,intptr)
at Gdk.Pixbuf..ctor (System.Byte[] data, Colorspace colorspace,
Boolean has_alpha, Int32 bits_per_sample, Int32 width, Int32 height,
Int32 rowstride, Gdk.PixbufDestroyNotify destroy_fn) [0x0]

I use GLib.ExceptionManager.UnhandledException to get that little info :-S

The weird thing is that with exactly the same code with mono-1.2.6 work
like a charm and now the problem show up after a update to mono-1.9.1-3.1...

any ideas?, I don't know even where to start...what that kind of message
mean to begin to figure out what is happening?, some rule change to
deal with pixbuf and that kind of types from mono-1.2.6 ?

Thanks.

Mauricio
