[MOPO] Time to bury the hatchet?

2007-09-20 Thread Bruce Hershenson
There are some dealers in this hobby who have in the past used some
questionable methods in buying and selling movie posters (buying for pennies on
the dollar by misrepresenting the value of items, selling for far over market
value by misrepresenting the value of items, severely over-grading items,
misrepresenting the rarity of items, selling heavily restored items as having
little restoration, etc). Many years ago I quit dealing with those people who I
believed used such tactics.

But now in the days of the Internet and tremendous communication between
collectors through discussion boards and other means, it seems it is VERY hard
for ANY dealer to successfully play the games described above, and it seems
that just about every one of those dealers has either cleaned up their act or
moved on to something else. I note that two of the absolute worst offenders,
major dealers who have been around forever and who were notorious for
cheating people, have both been on eBay for several years now and have each
maintained 100% positive feedback!

So I make the following offer to anyone who I have chosen not to deal with in
the past. I am willing to completely bury the hatchet and resume dealing with
you (either as buyer or seller), and we will start over and the past will be
forgotten. All I ask is that you deal with me honestly in the future, and don't
slander me on public forums!

Of course, I have no doubt there will be some who want to keep things exactly
as they are, and that is fine with me. But if you are someone who has thought
that it would be nice to find a way to end the current situation, here is your
chance! Just e-mail me at [EMAIL PROTECTED], and I will unblock you and we can
resume doing business.

Why am I making this offer? Because a couple of people who were in this
situation e-mailed ME in the past few months with a cordial Can we go back to
how things were?, and in both cases I agreed, and there have been so problems,
so I thought, why not openly make this offer to everyone else?

Of course, there need be no public discussion of this. I just thought posting
this on MoPo would be the quickest way to get the message out.

Maybe we CAN be like Rodney King suggested, and all just get along!

Bruce

[MOPO] RE I WAS 50% OF BRUCE'S EMAIL

2007-09-20 Thread Flixspix
MOPOER'S

This email comes straight up and truly sincere a heads up given its coming
from me.BUT I too slipped off the Bruce List whoa 6 years ago I
think...and it was remarkable how fast prideful locking of horns segued
into so many missed opportunities personally but way more importantly for my
business. Oh sure I might would call someone and bother them to place a bid
for me on something I considered essential but without the benefit of that
feel one gets with certain sellers the results were feeble and worse I felt
like I did skipping Chapel at my High School...great for the moment to
watch moon landings or listening in the car to eight tracks of THE DOOBIE
BROTHERS but alas my soul was empty. That may be overplaying it a bit

but you get the drift.

So months and months ago I wrote a letter to Bruce after having watched a
1920's 3 sheet that had my name all over it just go poof and into the hands
of someone I am sure undeserving and worse at a way reasonable price.

I said to myself [EMAIL PROTECTED][EMAIL PROTECTED]())$*@[EMAIL PROTECTED]
(mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED][EMAIL PROTECTED]())$*@@$) get
your [EMAIL PROTECTED]^%$$$_ (mailto:@^$$*^$$$)and write Bruce. Tired
of
feeling I was on Woody Allen's bus in STARDUST MEMORIES nose pressed to the
glass,
my Yazoo Mills tubes barren...while the party bus sang and danced their
way to poster nirvana. SO I wrote him what I thought was a very nice note,
spell checked, the whole nine yards.

Seven months later I got a great note back, a brief up to date on dos and
donts and immediately was put on the mailing list (6 years and still 28
catalogs going out the door my god are they're breeding)So first I
thought
let me just watch the first couple of auctions...you know like watching
the other team get dressed in the lockerseh that may not be quite
the sports analogy I am looking for but anyway took a dive head first after
j
watching the ins and outs for two weeks. That was six weeks ago so five
weeks ago I placed bids and got sniped on every goddamn onebut IT WAS
OKAY...a little rusty, a little to wimpy on the Sabrina poster okay okay,
So
one more week seeing what's inflated, what sneaks by what's still hot,
what cooled (Jeeze what happened to 50's Bogart wrap'em up with fish
already
So now I'm pumped, I'm ready now everybody get the hell out of my way

AND HOT DAMN AM I GLAD I DID AND THE NEXT WEEK AFTER EVEN
BETTER...NO SLAM DUNK YES YES YES YESshit I forgot how much
fun it could be
 too.

So take it from your buddy FREEMAN on Mopo...flixspix for those that
spend (thank you) if you found your self cross wise with the man in that
oasis known as WEST PLAINS or is it by now HERSHENSON FLATS ...a few
words sincerely spoken just might make all the difference for you too.

It already has for me so Bruce thanks.glad to be one of the gang
again.

THIS MESSAGE IS AN ENDORSEMENT OF OUTREACH AND PAID FOR BY THE COMMITTEE
THAT KICKED FREEMAN'S BUTT OFF HIS HIGH HORSE AND GOT HIM ONTO THE RIGHT BUS
AND ALREADY SEEING GREEN ...SEATS STILL AVAILABLE. SOME RESTRICTIONS
APPLY RESULTS MAY VARY, BUT IF NOT COMPLETELY SATISFIED AT LEAST DIALOGUE
AND MUTUAL INTERESTS ACHIEVED AT NO EXPENSE AND OPTIONS REMAIN
OPEN. 'cause you never know when that perfect one of a kind stone
litho pops up
and bites you right in your collectibles.
