[MOPO] FA: STEAL THESE POSTERS: 40% of our 999 folded one-sheets closing tonight are at $1 or have no bids there are a lot of great underpriced ones at every price level!

2013-09-24 Thread Bruce Hershenson
Three times *EVERY *week we auction hundreds of items that sell for low,
low prices (we actually sell lots and lots of items for $1 and $2, and
around half of all that we auction goes for $14 and under). But Tuesday
night's 999 folded one-sheets (covering all years and genres), closing
tonight, on *TUESDAY **September 24th*, represent *REALLY* incredible
values, and yet many of these are currently languishing at low, low,
prices! *THE ONLY REASON I CAN IMAGINE FOR THIS IS THAT SOME BIDDERS ARE
WAITING UNTIL THE END TO BID, BUT THEY MAY WELL FORGET TO DO SO (and if so,
this is a golden opportunity to get incredible buys on a lot of nice
one-sheets, as will be immediately evident when you scan the group of top
titles below!).*

With just 13 hours to go, the* *999 folded one-sheets include 81 items
with no bids (8%), 386 items at $1 or with no bids (39%), 445 items at $2
or less (45%), 501 items at $3 or less (50%), 574 items at $4 or less
(57%), and 614 items at $5 or less (61%)! *
*

HELLO! This is 2013 and I doubt you could have purchased many of these
items for $5 (or far under) 20 years ago! And you can get as many of these
items as you want sent in one package anywhere in the U.S. for just
*$11*shipping for all (or actual cost anywhere else),
*EVEN IF* you win 100 or more! And if you are in our e-mail club (over
8,200 members), you get *SEVEN *of our full-color books ($144.97 original
retail) if you purchase any 15 items (no matter how inexpensive)! *
*

Of course, once you get *OVER* just $5, you start hitting lots and lots of
better titles, but an awful lot of those are currently at
*VERY*reasonable prices, far under what some of them have sold for in
the past
(the ones we can find any record of selling in the past!) including (click
on the titles to go to the actual auctions, or click on the photo icon to
just see the image):

Re: [MOPO] We have been running a great illustrated history of Black Film Pioneers written by longtime collector and retired film teacher, Gabe Taverney!

2013-09-24 Thread Bruce Hershenson
Thanks much, Kirby and Allen! Gabe sent me some information about these
guys over a few private emails, and I begged him to do an entire series,
and he reluctantly agreed, but by the end of it he was loving doing it!
Special thanks must be given to Phil Wages who located many of the great
images in both our Auction History and in the Hershenson/Allen Archive.

I have to try to find other experts willing to contribute articles about
what they are so passionate for, and we can provide images for those as
well.

Re: [MOPO] FA: STEAL THESE POSTERS: 40% of our 999 folded one-sheets closing tonight are at $1 or have no bids there are a lot of great underpriced ones at every price level!

2013-09-24 Thread Bruce Hershenson
Just minutes to go until these start closing and there are still 276 of
these at $5 or under, and I promise you there are great deals at *EVERY *price
level. Go to * http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/sort/4/13.html* to see
for yourself (but hurry, or these will be going, going, gone)!

Three times *EVERY *week we auction hundreds of items that sell for low,
low prices (we actually sell lots and lots of items for $1 and $2, and
around half of all that we auction goes for $14 and under). But Tuesday
night's 999 folded one-sheets (covering all years and genres), closing
tonight, on *TUESDAY **September 24th*, represent *REALLY* incredible
values, and yet many of these are currently languishing at low, low,
prices! *THE ONLY REASON I CAN IMAGINE FOR THIS IS THAT SOME BIDDERS ARE
WAITING UNTIL THE END TO BID, BUT THEY MAY WELL FORGET TO DO SO (and if
so, this is a golden opportunity to get incredible buys on a lot of nice
one-sheets, as will be immediately evident when you scan the group of top
 titles below!).*

 *

Of course, once you get *OVER* just $5, you start hitting lots and lots
of better titles, but an awful lot of those are currently at
*VERY*reasonable prices, far under what some of them have sold for in the past
(the ones we can find any record of selling in the past!) including (click

Don't know exactly how thin on the ground these are, but Bruce you've only ever
sold one, which reached over 900.
If you can live with the cracks, perhaps worth working out some way of heating
it up to try and flatten it out, and hanging on to it until a decent one turns
up.
If the experiment goes badly wrong, not out of pocket too much.

it could probably be done with a t-shirt press, set at a very very
low temperature and slowly pressured. of course, you would need
intermediate media between the item press and know what you're doing etc.

And I guess you could buff out the zillions of scratches too. If you can
find a restorer who would do it for a few hundred dollars and could
guarantee an unwarped, scratchless, uncracked finished product, go for it!

Re: [MOPO] Ice Station Zebra lenticular poster repairable?

2013-09-24 Thread Tom Martin
my two cents You can use a Iron on low temp with a teflon cover
and with a slip sheet substrate.. the problem may be the threshold of
the temp when it could melt... as for the cracks and scratchs you
could uses a thin viscosity super glue called flash sold buy Guitar
re-bulders Stewart granger in ohio,,,Or contact GE plastics
(industrial plastic supply house.and get a solvent and glue and uses
a Hypodermic needle and apply under a microscopic loupe
If you mist the card board in bacck it could steam it straight.. but
care full... also if you press int with some weight like Rich offered
a press like a seal press used got drymounting on a low setting may
work from behind not on the lenticular side. then I would get a
plastic polish and buff out the scratches being carfaul to go with
the grain or the lenticular direction..you could make a jig so it was
oriented in proper form... looks salvageable... maybe Dario or Poster
mountain could do it.. I think it would be a cool project to save
Good Luck Roland

Re: [MOPO] Ice Station Zebra lenticular poster repairable?

2013-09-24 Thread Kirby McDaniel
My three cents is that this is not fixable in any significant way. If one
doesn't buy these lenticulars
in really great condition, then one is just going to live with their faults.
Deadly is having any of the image
scraped off the back of these. I did not see this on ebay, but as a buyer of
CINERAMA material, I would
not have been interested in this, so far gone is it.
