2016-02-24 Thread Vesna B
I find this usually happens if you are searching via an ebay site different to
the one the items are listed on.

For example, I use ebay AU, so some of the stuff listed by people on ebay US
won't show, unless I log in to the US site.

That items do not show up in search results seems a common problem on ebay.

If you are registered outside of the US, ebay does not show you any items from
sellers who ship to the US only. These will not show in any of your search
results.

Yet, even if you are registered in the US or the seller ships worldwide, I
frequently notice that I get zero results in 'Seller's other items', even
though listings from this seller do appear in the 'You may also like' view.
Listings from these sellers also do not show up in any of my searches. This is
a problem that I have noticed for at least a year, so ebay must be aware of
this.

Here's an example:

http://www.ebay.com/sch/dbd19508/m.html?item=191810394512=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562

I KNOW this seller has several active listings, since I'm watching them. Yet,
when I click this link, I get zero results, same for his completed listings. I
am logged in with an account registered to a US address.

Please give it a try, everybody, let me know if you get any results from this
link.

2016-02-24 Thread Posteropolis
Thanks, Wim.

Just as an aside, a few days ago I decided to do a seller search of my ebay
ID, posteropolis-com. There should have been 186 listings altogether. I
could only see 93. Tried again five minutes later and 183 turned up. Just
shows you that eBay search is so unreliable that you can get different
results for the same search just minutes apart.

I have 104 listings on eBay.co.uk but only 40 on eBay.com and visible to

That items do not show up in search results seems a common problem on ebay.

If you are registered outside of the US, ebay does not show you any items
from sellers who ship to the US only. These will not show in any of your
search results.

Yet, even if you are registered in the US or the seller ships worldwide, I
frequently notice that I get zero results in 'Seller's other items', even
though listings from this seller do appear in the 'You may also like' view.
Listings from these sellers also do not show up in any of my searches. This
is a problem that I have noticed for at least a year, so ebay must be aware
of this.

Here's an example:

http://www.ebay.com/sch/dbd19508/m.html?item=191810394512
 =nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562

I KNOW this seller has several active listings, since I'm watching them.
Yet, when I click this link, I get zero results, same for his completed
listings. I am logged in with an account registered to a US address.

Please give it a try, everybody, let me know if you get any results from
this link.

Has anyone else encountered this and/or has an explanation for this?

I listed 5 different lots of John Wayne photos as an experiment as I

generate something similar. After three days It does not.

[MOPO] AW: [MOPO] Ebay-ponderings

2016-02-24 Thread Wolfgang Jahn
This is exactly what I (and probably many other Europeans) are facing
without even knowing.
Many auction items just do not appear at all - like as you said from
listings of cinemasterpieces or whoever.
You only notice this if he says he has X items for auction, and you only see
a fraction of them.

I posted this to mopo maybe 5 years ago already, and wrote to ebay, they
only sent a standard reply that said like
'If a seller chooses to 'only ship to the US' you might not see their
items.'

Now this is obviously not the case here (it's sad already that you do not
see items at all if someone clicks 'only US')
as you randomly do not see items for sale that say 'ships worldwide', or
only part of a sellers listing.

It seems this has something to do with your IP address, as back then I
discussed this with Helmut Hamm for example, and he could see more items
than me from a specific seller's listing, but then I could see some items
that he didn't if I remember correctly.

All very strange and annoying.

sellers who ship to the US only.

Please give it a try, everybody, let me know if you get any results from this
link.
