[MOPO] MOpo - overview world events and stress in collecting ???

2023-08-19 Thread Tom Martin
So last night before I went to bed there was a recap of the news around
the world and I can understand why everybody who sells or Clark's would
be in a state of shock

I understand as well ever since I was a little boy my first experience
was when John F. Kennedy was shot in Martin Luther King and in 1980 John
Lennon I also have lived through the 9/11 and lots of craziness my
grandfather
John Francis Martin was in the war of World War I 1918 and was a
British doughboy from Bermuda a British island off the coast of North
Carolina USA
Father Thomas Marotta a Sicilian from Rochester New York who is the
sergeant in the US Marine Corps during the Korean conflict
Here we are 2023 and did we learn lessons from World War II Vietnam or
World War I or Korea?

WHEN I LOOK BACK AT MOVIES AND HOW THEY AFFECTED US IT WAS PEOPLE LIKE
FRANK CAPRA WHO DID FILMS TO INSPIRE AND TEACH US ABOUT HUMILITY
GRATITUDE AND THE HUMAN CONDITION
Same thing with Stanley Kreamer SAME THING WITH MARTIN SCORSESE FRANCIS
FORD COPPOLA GEORGE LUCAS JOHN FORD AND MANY OF THE DIRECTORS OF THE 30S
AND 40S THERE IS USUALLY A SOCIAL COMMENTARY IN THE MOVIES TO MOTIVATE
US AND KEEP US TOGETHER AND CELEBRATE LIFE SOME OF THE WESTERNS AND THE
FILM NOIR FILMS SHOW THE DARK SIDE OF SOCIETY BUT THEY STILL TIED US
ABOUT MORALS EVEN THE SCIENCE FICTION FOR BIDDEN PLANET WAR OF THE
WORLDS IN TIME MACHINE AND PLAN OF THE APES ALL TARDIS ABOUT HUMAN
CONDITION YET MANY GET UPSET IF YOU SPEAK ABOUT IT MYSELF LOVED ALL THE
CECIL B DEMILLE FILMS LIKE 10 COMMANDMENTS AND THE LIKE IN THE BIBLICAL
FILMS THEY WERE VERY INSPIRIN
SO TODAY I GET A CALL FROM A WOMAN THIS MORNING AND SHE SEEMED A LITTLE
DISORIENTED AND I SAID WELL WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO DO? SHE SAID WHY ARE
YOU BASEBALL CARDS AND YOU'RE SPEAKING RUDE TO ME SO I'M GONNA TAKE MY
BUSINESS ELSEWHERE I SAID BUT I DON'T EVEN SELL BASEBALL CARDS AND I'M
TRYING TO HELP YOU TO DIRECT YOU TO SOMEBODY THAT DOES AND I DO THIS IS
A FREE SERVICE SHE HUNG UP ON ME I CALLED BACK AND I LEFT A VOICEMAI I
TRIED TO EXPLAIN TO HER THAT I AM NOT A BASEBALL CARD SHOP I'M MOTION
PICTURE MEMORABILIA BUT IT'S A FREE PUBLIC SERVICE I TRIED TO CONNECT
PEOPLE TO PLACES THEY CAN SELL THEIR ITEMS SINCE I'VE BEEN IN THE
COLLECTIBLE INDUSTRY SINCE 1977 AND I DO KNOW OF A BASEBALL CAR DEALER
THAT COULD POSSIBLY BUY HER CARDS I REALIZE THESE PEOPLE ARE AT ALL TIME
STRESS LEVEL I NEED THE MONEY AND ARE DRAWING STRAWS BECAUSE THEY DON'T
KNOW WHERE TO GO OR WHAT TO DO AND THE INFLATION IS CAUSING THEM TO HAVE
ANXIETY AND THEY ARE PANICKING

I LOOK AT ADVERSITY AS IT'S A TEST FOR ME TO SEE IF I'LL GET ANGRY AND
FRUSTRATED AND TURN PEOPLE AWAY WHICH I WOULD NEVER DO I AM A SERVANT TO
FRIENDS AND FAMILY AND ANYBODY IN THE MOTION PICTURE INDUSTRY THAT IS
STRUGGLING WITH STRESS OR ISSUES I PRETTY MUCH HAVE SEEN A LOT OF THINGS
AND SO I KNOW WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO BE DOWN AND OUT not have plans how
to get out of debt or reconstruct your life'

I HAVE TOLD MOPO MANY TIMES THAT I BELIEVE THE ONLY ANSWER IS PEACE AND
LOVE AND APPEALING TO GOD WHETHER YOU'RE CHRISTIAN MUSLIM HINDU BUDDHIST
I BELIEVE IT'S THE SAME GOD WERE APPEALING TO HOWEVER LAST NIGHT I HEARD
THAT CHRISTIANS AND MUSLIMS ARE AT RIOTS AND FIGHTING RIGHT NOW AND ALSO
THE WEATHER PATTERNS ARE INSANE BECAUSE CALIFORNIA IS BRACING FOR
THE FIRST TIME IN 88 YEARS THEY'VE HAD A HURRICANE HIT CALIFORNIA NOW I
DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU BUT THESE WERE ALL THE SIGNS OF THE TIMES THAT WERE
PREDICTED BY CHRIST AND IT'S NOT TO SCARE YOU BECAUSE JESUS SAID HE
DIDN'T COME TO CONDEMN THE WORLD HE CAME TO SAVE THE WORLD AND I BELIEVE
HIM I JUST THINK THAT EVEN THE MOST ELECT IN THEOLOGY ARE FREAKING OUT
BECAUSE THERE IS SO MUCH PRESSURE ON WHAT THEY BELIEVE YOU HAVE TO
REMEMBER IT'S NOT WHAT YOU SHOULD BE LISTENING TO BY MEN BUT BY THE
WORDS OF JESUS HIMSELF AND IT MAKES SENSE FORGIVE YOUR ENEMIES LOVE YOUR
NEIGHBORS AND HELP EVERYBODY YOU CAN JUST TREAT PEOPLE RIGHT

OUR EGOS DECEIVE US AND WE CAN GET CAUGHT UP IN THINKING WE WILL LIVE
PERPETUALLY SEEMS THE CURRENT RANGES TO TRY TO REACH 100 YEARS OLD AND
MANY PEOPLE ARE IN THEIR 80S AND 90S FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY YEAH
THEY'RE PANICKING BECAUSE THEY DO SEEM TO SEE THEIR DEMISE IS COMING UP
QUICKLY AT 67 I CAN SEE IT HAPPENING AND I'LL BE mystify live much
longer myself because of health ailments however with God I figure it's
up to him when he wants to pull the plug I don't fear death I mystify
live much longer myself because of health ailments however with God I
figure it's up to him when he wants to pull the plug I don't fear death
I consider it it a BRIDGE TO THE EVERLASTING LIFE WHICH IS REALLY THE
MOST IMPORTANT ONE THAT'S WHY I BELIEVE WE WILL GET TO SEE OUR FRIENDS
AND RELATIVES AGAIN AND FAMOUS PEOPLE THAT WE ADMIRED SO MUCH BECAUSE WE
WILL ALL BE GRADUATED AND IT WILL BE A DIFFERENT LIFE THAN THIS NO MORE
GREED NO MORE ENVY NO MORE HATE PREJUDICE
SO I BELIEVE WE ARE

I don't have a movie location per se but I must tell you, everytime I see a
FitzPatrick Traveltalk on TCM, I think to myself, Wouldn't it be
interesting if someone could revisit all these places and show us how
they've changed in the last nearly 100 years. It sure would be a massive
