Hi Todd,
Sorry, just noticed this email.
If you click the link below and then the tab that says "View E-Catalog" you
can view the entire catalog. There is more information on the lots there.
As stated, I have no idea why Bonhams chooses not to offer any grading. In
this case, the items are almost all in excellent condition and I will post some
information here after I preview.
Thanks,
Joe

Yes, I've noticed that too. No sizes besides mentioning the format... one
sheet, half sheet, etc and yes, no condition but I guess they expect you to
either go to the viewing in person(of course, everyone can do that) or ask for
a condition report, which they are notorious for screwing up. I know this from
personal experience.

What's even worse and hopefully they've remedied this for Ira's items... they
have the absolute worst poster images I've ever seen for any auction house,
ever! For non poster items, their images are quite good but for posters
themselves, they're horrible! Every past auction where they've included
posters, they make the posters look dark and muddy. Not only is this doing a
disservice to the consignors and the buyers but it's also doing a disservice to
the auction house itself. They actually make the posters look bad when in
person they look great. I've mentioned this to them on a number of occasions
and apparently, it's gone on deaf ears. Apparently, they just don't care.

With the quality of this material, it's too bad Ira or Joe didn't(or maybe they
did?) approach the two largest auction houses in the world. Sotheby's and
Christie's.

Those are two auction houses that really know how to sell posters and who have
the clients which the other auction houses don't.

Again, with the value and quality of this material, I'd be very surprised that
they would turn down doing an auction with this material.

2017-10-26 Thread Todd

I sold that one sheet from A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM at my single owner sale at
Sotheby's. March 1, 1997.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if this is the same copy as I've never seen
another.

Back then, I think the estimate was around 1000 - 1500 and probably sold in
that range.

Count me among the chorus of the impressed!

I especially was awed by A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM 1S:

Has this 1S ever been sold before? Checked HA/EMP, never there.

They're also selling a faded HS:

I would love to know how a big collection like Ira Resnick's is stored and
cared for. I'm sure these valuable items aren't just stacked in bins sitting
in a spare bedroom.

You can't frame everything.so you have to put them somewhere. Any high-end
collectors out there like to share how they manage their collections?

[MOPO] AW: [MOPO] Ira Resnick Auction At Bonhams

2017-10-25 Thread martin last
Hi Joe and Ira, just wondering why you went for Bonhams rather than a more
recognised movie poster auction house like Heritage? Better terms I guess. If
this is too “delicate” a question just ignore it. Great material, but that goes
without saying! Best, Martin

Hi Ira,

Never could figure out their lack of basic condition descriptions. Most of
this stuff is in nice shape, but I will be at the auction preview throughout if
you want mucho details.

Best,

Joe

Is it just me or does it bother other people that Bonham has the worst online
descriptions of condition of posters in auctions. No sizes. No ratings.
Backed or not backed. No descriptions of any defects. Etc…

I guess these are all perfect and in mint shape…..

I don’t understand how they get away with that.

Count me among the chorus of the impressed!

I especially was awed by *A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM 1S:*

*

Has this 1S ever been sold before? Checked HA/EMP, never there.

They're also selling a faded HS:

HA auctioned a better HS in 2009.
